Are you surprised at the price being high or low
Mk2 roccos don't get much love, sure is clean but an 18-year_parked non-16V isn't going to have dubbers lining up around the block..

Typical Scirocco dash cracks. You can decent running one's for that much or slightly more. The Mk2's aren't that popular.

Who cars if it doesnt run. Find an 8v out of another MKII and slam that bitch in there and drive it!![]()

Meh, it doesn't look to be 9.9/10. If I had to stare at that crappy dash, I'd be pissed if I paid $1500, and then had to get it running.
I'd rather have my R for that kind of money.

It's a $1500 car in TX. Take it to NY-->ME and it might fetch more $, but in reality it's a (possibly rust-free) shell that some VW fanatic could do nice things with. 8v Mk2 Sciroccos aren't terribly desirable as they sit, and that one needs an exhaust and fuel tank installed to run.

That car is not a 9.9. It does look like the exterior is in beautiful condition, though. Strange color combination, though. Finding an uncracked, brown dash will be next to impossible, unfortunately.
But if it really does just need the fuel tank put back in, then I'd say that's not a terrible purchase. It's got the same 8v in it that the GTI and Cabiolet of that year had.

I like that it says unmolested, yet the gas tank and exhaust are removed. That's pretty molested IMO.

Is it just me, or can TCL never find the positive side to anything?
$1500 might as well be free, and it looks like an easy fixer-upper with a straight body and maybe even good paint. I don't get what isn't to like about it.
It is definitely not a 9.9/10, but even at 6/10 it has plenty of potential.

Meh.
Call me a cynic, but why would someone store it for soo long. Then decide to spend money to paint it and stick it back in a garage...just to sell for cheap years later?
Also, says it was restored in running condition... but many important parts are now removed '& included'.
Sounds like someone tried to get it running, failed, and gave up.

False.
Molested = ****ty cheap pep boys modifications. Clean OEM european market parts for example are far from molesting IMHO.
If you disagree, then my Phaeton must be molested by me adding factory european market headlights, taillights, refrigerator, Bentley stalks and lighter, etc.

You can't just make up definitions and declare things as true or false.
Molested doesn't have to mean anything negative. All of my cars are heavily molested, but it is up to debate if they're well molested or poorly molested.

As stated, this thing is not a 9.9/10.
As a clean shell for a built vdub, MAYBE it's a 9/10, but as a car, in and of itself, we are looking at a 6/10.
Now, should you be so inclined, if you were to buy this car, swap in a 1.8t, install a decent suspension, and put in some period-specific recaros, then you might be on to something.
As it sits, it is an odd car that is in a bizarre (and questionable) state of disrepair.

Fairly easy to fix and no rust make this a semi-interesting car. But, no 16v no care. I could swap parts from the Jetta though...
Also repainted cars scare me. usually better to start with crap OEM paint and do your own work.
CIS is picky as **** and the fact that it sat for so long is no help. I have no doubt he tried to get it running and couldn't. I also think that it's probably an easy fix for someone who knows CIS.
