First let me just say that I am not here to bash dealers, just need to vent on this particular experience and I guess this can serve as a thread for others to do the same. Went to a dealer that was closer to where I live today to get a couple of small things done, usually I go to Platinum VW which is where I bought my car. The ECM update was one of them, and was shocked to hear that my car couldn't receive this update because "it has an aftermarket intake and is probably chipped" I do have the stage 1 from APR but do not have the tune, and I explained that to them. Just thought that was weird.

Next, I was having trouble getting that mesh piece behind the front emblem back in place (i just got it painted) and asked if they could just pop it back in for me. So they called to tell me that the mesh piece was an aftermarket part and they couldn't touch it, which I explained to them was incorrect. After they agreed to try to work on it, they called back and said the bumper, not just the grill, the entire bumper would need to come off to put this mesh piece back in correctly, and that this would take 1.5-2 hours of labor ($115/hr) so of course I declined. Got home, popped it back in within 5 minutes, didn't need to remove the bumper or the grill.

Aside from that, I got quoted $135+tax to install a dead pedal that was giving me issues(kicker panel is a pain in the ass) and they took my car to a "brushless car wash" without notifying me. Not trying to sound like a little bitch but I only get the car hand washed for a reason, I do not like swirl marks!

Sorry for those of you who are bored from reading and listening to me whine, but a lot of dealerships really suck now a days and its a shame that going to the dealership has become more painful then going to the dentist...

Take it somewhere else and dont tell them you did anything except change the intake.

I choose to go to a dealer that is 30 min away because the dealer that is 7 min away (where I got my car) is a PITA about everything.

Sorry to hear that you had a bad experience at a dealership. I'm not a big fan of their service departments either. If its not too much, try to take your car back to the dealership you bought it from. I noticed that the service guys would make comments about whether a certain car came from their dealership or not. Though this doesn't necessarily mean anything, it was interesting at the very least. I also explicitly request that they do not wash my car, because like you I don't trust their swirl inducing car washers. Good luck!

wow.. im sorry to hear that you have had bad service

my vw dealer has actually been extremely great to me.

i work monday through friday 8-5 and im roughly 35 miles away from my dealer from work.. they stay late to wait for me when i need to take it in

i had stains in my hood from bird crap, and they said we would take care of it for you... they asked me if it was ok to wet sand and wax and do what they can to get about 15 stains out of my paint. im like sure, go for it.. they gave me a loaner 2012 jetta se (i have a 2012 sel premium) and was happy it was pretty much the same exact car, next day i got a call my car was ready. i go back to the dealer and they pointed out some stains went through the clear coat. we talked on possible ways to resolve it, so i had to bring the car back 2 days later to have the zone rep of vw take a look at the hood to have it repainted, and he said go for it without having to explain anything to him.. and the service foreman was like, thats because vw is about quality and customer satisfaction.. .. they also said because ive driven up so much, heres a sun shield, discount on accessories with free install, and free tank of gas when you need it.. they wrote it in the service log that they owe me a tank of gas when i need it... and now i was told that i can bring the car in to have the hood repainted when i have free time and that i will have a loaner waiting for me

Wow. That's pretty impressive. My dealer isn't like OPs but no where near that. One time I had to drive a Kia rio rental. Worst car I have ever driven in my life! Really wish my dealer had loaners!

Sorry to burst your bubble but being an avid detailer (I do it as a side thing and have my own business) but even with hand washes...you can still get swirl marks, so you better be going to someone that has good technique (2 bucket method with grit guards who washes their mitt every panel ...at least...Also how do they dry the car...because Microfibers...no matter how good they are, they still cause a possibility for swirl marks...thats why I have a Metro MasterBlaster... Wherever you go to get your "detail" done, evaluate their techniques and then PM me...but I just want you to know that to limit your swirls severely, you have to have the proper tools and techniques to complete the job! )

This post is not to make fun of you or anything like that...I'm just trying to help you out, especially because I hate swirls too, but I had to point out that what you said technically was not fully correct!

Anyways, go to a different dealership, side-note...if someone cannot spell things properly, as what you pictured above, it reflects on their professionalism.
