    got my R today

there was a post a while back re whether or not the front headrests come out...important to those of use who need to extra space to fit windsurf boards (etc).

from the owner's manual (LOL RTFM), extend the head rest to maximum, slide a credit card/flat plastic object under the plastic cap at the base of the right post. This depresses a small button which allows the right post to come out. Depress the button in the headrest itself to free the left post.

no hidden buttons, no magic. Viola

Amazing what can be found in the owner's manual.

Since our cars have voice recognition why doesn't VW just put the manual in the car electronically? Then you could just ask it to search for answers to your questions. Any needed diagrams could be displayed in the HU.

    Sound simple to me.

for anyone that cares, pretty good space in the R with the headrest off
    one 110 liter board (237cm by 66.5cm), 2 booms, 5.0, 5.8 and 7.0 sail, 430 and 460 mast.
A 490 will fit on top of the dash as will an 8.5 sail.
