Love the Rallye, but being the owner of a Passat Syncro (which is almost the same drive train) I cannot see why this car is worth almost 5 times more. Probably just jealousy that yours is worth so much Good Luck with the sale, I wish I could put that kind of price on mine!

For starters I'm not trying to pick on you in the last post with your Passat, but there is obviously a growth of people with bigger mouths than ears and eyes nowadays... it kills me to think of how it used to be in the VW crowd... and the newbs should learn to do a little research before they open their mouths (or type with their seemingly retarted fingers). Just because you haven't seen one at your local cruise night doesn't mean it doesn't exist or isn't worth the asking price. This car has MANY, many difference's from your passat, or any other MK2. First, exclusivity... only 5,000 of these were ever made (with less in existence today after wrecks, morons parting them out or scrapping them, and a bunch lost to racing). They were specifically built for rally racing homologation and built with very special care, mostly by hand, and all as 1 group in 1989, I believe, and then were tagged and shipped to their buyers when purchased that year and the following years. They were NOT made like most cars and are very different down to the welds on the chassis seams and the gears in the differentials. Second, supply and demand. There's plenty of regular MK2's out there but not many of these, and what VW fanatic wouldn't want a widebody supercharged AWD MK2 straight from the factory. They are a very, very special car and most fetch $20k easily. Also, I think the price is in Canadian Dollars so this would be quite a steal in the U.S.

Anyway, now that I've wasted 2 minutes of my life... to the owner, she looks like a really nice example and I wish you the best of luck with the sale of this beauty.

I could not have worded this better myself.

Sadly where I live (Central American backwater), some idiot politician decided to take bribes from the local dealerships and the importation of pre-'95 cars (even collector's cars) is now forbidden by law

$15k is an excellent price for this, I recently saw one in Germany in a lot worse shape for 13.8k Euros...

    so ya, n00bs GTFO!

I wasn't saying that the car isn't worth it, it's gorgeous, I was merely commenting that I wish my Passat was worth 15 grand, instead of close to the same as a regular B3 Passat (virtually nothing) . I understand the rarity of the car and respect that.

If anyone is in the US and looking for a rallye 15k is a score. In just two years you can just drive it down to the states.

When this car does become 25 years old the price will most likely jump on these and this car will be in the 20-25k range like they where back in the mid 2000's.

No doubt your a noob. But that's ok. Do a quick google search to learn why this car is so special. Supercharged g60 synchro AWD wide body, rally race ready street legal dub that never made it to the USA. It was the star of the show in its day.

[QUOTE=Actionpod;76908632]Importing cars that were never sold here is getting harder and harder to do. I think you can do it through a registered importer, but most of them have very strict rules on what they will or will not import.

    It can be done.

There are several Rally's here in the US and have been for a few years. NGP brought 1 in some time back http://www.ngpracing.com/store/index...iew&page_id=58

Yes it can be done, but in 2014 this Rallye will be 25yo and much easier to import into the U.S. from Canada

we're lucky the sanctioning body for world rally made the minimum production 5,000 units. this thing was only built for homologation purposes.

its a street legal rally car.

    fukkin noobs.
