Leak down tests your head gasket... Not a compression test

my coolant resovoir was cracked on the bottom so coolant shot out today when i did a little burnout i did a leak down test on the coolant resovoir wasnt holding preassure no other leaks appeared

if your head gasket was blown your oil would be quite low, and your coolant would be merky, and if it was super bad you would have a light slimy build up in your crankcase and on the cap...thats great compression. My engine has almost the same and it has 230 000 kms

wow nice dude and yea my coolant is not mixing at all but since im changing the resovoir tomorrow im gonna put g12 coolant in it mayb the green **** that was in it caused my problems so we will see the results tommorow. my oil is great on the level i use 0w 40 mobil 1 but im going to jump back to castrol 5w-40 i honestly didnt see the big fuss on mobile 1 actually it burns faster than castrol. all ive been told that if my compression os that good then i can rule out the head gasket since there wasnt any oil or coolant mixing

yea, I was surprised how good the compression was! That actually could be causing some of your issues (vw is very picky when it comes to certain things like coolant and the sensors etc). Id do a flush on top of the reservoir swap just to make sure you don't get anymore mixing! I always use castrol syntec...530 in winter and 540 in summer, it doesn't seem to burn a drop, (well maybe a tad, but I couldn't really tell on the dipstick). yea, if the compression is good I think the head gasket would be fine, a leak down test would be more accurate...as long as its not burning a ton of oil and the rest of what I said id say its ok

also the old resovoir looked old u cant even see the coolant level so i guess it was its turn to go bye bye lol. when i put the leak own test on the resovoir i filled it all the way to the top with coolant and when i started pumping preasure , the preasure wouldnt go up and i was like wtf so i looked under the hhe little tank and i see coolant dripping as i pump and a hose next to it dripping as well, if i turn it on for a while it seems like the tank isnt producing preassure so instead of the coolant staying in a floods out weird..

huh? you lost me lol...was this because of the cracked coolant reservoir? or is this a new issue?

my car doesnt burn oil the oil looks fresh still but i mean i was comparing castrol and mobile 1 a big difference in them i was surprised. my friend who did the compression check said the leak down wasnt neccesary because the compression was over whelming to him. he said it was perfect. also the car doesnt produce white smoke or any type of smoke out the exhaust so he said i was good. the only white smoke i get is in the morning due to condensation but disapears after 10 sec. just the only thing that worries me is that when today the collant came back out the resovoir i was worried i was like wtf i never seen this before. but my friend did do the leak down to the resovoir we noticed the coolant stayed in and didnt come down but when we applied pressure it would leak threw the bottom of the coolant tank and 2 hoses next to it also leaked coolant.. but only when we put preasure

im guessing since the coolant resovoir cant hold preasure anymore its just gonna pour out coolant
