About that.. I don't think that I can take it anymore A lot of the times there is just too much drone, it kinda overwhelms that throaty note the VR6 has. I wonder if adding a CAT would kill all that sikk backfire it spits out. Deff don't want that to happen so might have to look into a resonator or something..

Can you elaborate? I may be in the market for an exhaust in the near future, and it's between the TT Borla dual resonator or the MBS.

Seems hard to believe that the 3" could have less droning than the 2.5".

It's hard to elaborate, but at times it's unbearably loud. That's cause I'm only running one muffler, which is how the system comes.

I think a resonator should calm it down just a tad, which is all I want. If you plan on running a CAT, you shouldn't have any issues as that takes away the raspyness. Not sure how a bone stock VR6 would behave but mine backfires like a mofo when going on/off throttle or when revving down to a stop. It's awesome stuff so only a resonator would allow me to keep that.

I would definitely say leave the CAT on if you don''t want ridiculous sound.

When I got my 2.5" exhaust done at this shop the guy first did it without the CAT (even thought I told him I wanted cat-back) and the sound was too loud for me so he put the cat back on and now my car has that perfect vr6 chewbacca sound

I regret not having recorded how it sounded with and without it.

please run a Burns muffler they sound amazing on a vr...

not that this is a corrado or a 12v, but it's a VR with a Burns 3inch muffler, test pipe. You can only really get a feel for it at the begining of the video because the rest is open wastegate... but the begining sounds really good.

Interesting - thanks. I'd definitely run a cat, but I'm not looking for crazy loud. In addition to my own noise tolerance, I'm in Northern VA, and I don't want the hassle from the cops.

At this point I'm probably leaning toward the TT system.

I am currently running an MBS 3" system but am reserving judgement for when I have a complete interior installed. Currently it drones badly in high gear (5th or 6th) below 2,500rpms. It's sweet spot currently appears to be 3k. I'll know more come spring.

The over-axle pipe does knock, so I'll also be taking some wood & hammer to it to bend it enough to clear.

I am not running and cat, and am on OBD2, but have no backfiring. Though I might end up installing a cat in the future (smell is a bit much) as well as a single resonator.

Interesting, you've heard one first hand and a single one was enough to get a good sound? Maybe I'll try out their resonator as the Magnaflow muffler is apparently the only one that fits with this system (according to MBS). I'll have to look into this, thanks

Depends what your plans with the car are. If you'll never go beyond N/A, then TT might be better for you.

The full-blown sound is nice for a while, but not practical for the long run. That's interesting about the backfiring though. It might be cause I'm running a mish-mash of parts on a generic tune (GIAC 268 file). Gonna play with spark plug gaps and go from there, might have to finish this off with a SA.

The drone was pretty minimal considering you didn't even have carpet in the car.

And part throttle cruising it was quiet. WOT it was a bit louder than a TT exhaust. Sound is better than a TT exhaust.

Also I may have to steal your seats.

I have an old EIP system which consist of 3" stainlesssteel turbo back to a mangaflow muffler. I love the way it sounds, when ever I drive it people are telling me how good it sounds. I also don't like the way the MBS tip comes out of the bumper, sort of looks weird to me
