Please ignore the fact that this video is from Fox News. The point of the video is the same.

    http://video.foxnews.com/v/155986616...ylist_id=87937

And this is not an isolated incident. I spoke to a man in the city the other day who told me that while he was on unemployment (two years) he was able to fund 7 cruises to the Caribbean. If it doesn't anger you that people can fund vacations, drug habits and bail with you and your families hard earned money then I lost all hope for the US.

LOL i have seen people use them for everything, when i worked at a grocery store this lady would come in in her brand new mercedes wearing a fur coat and large gaudy rings and buy lobsters with her EBT card

the system is such a joke it should only work for food at grocery stores

It's not an isolated incident. Abuse of government aid is abundant. I know someone who is the landlord for several section 8 houses, where the tennents also get free utilities (heat ain't cheap in the winter), food stamps, etc.. and yet they're able to afford giant flat screens, brand new kicks, nice cars, etc. Something is broken.

i realize that, was mostly being sarcastic.

but seriously, so what? lets get everyone foaming at the mouth about how poor people are wasting their government checks while we turn a blind eye to all the other (much more significant) wastes of your tax dollars...

whats the answer? cut them all off? the economy doesnt work like that...

    Did you watch the video?
The first step is to start by not allowing EBT cards to issue cash from ATMs.
Next would be to be more stringent with who can receive the cards (criminals).
Then they could set up some form of electronic system where only the essentials are allowed to be purchased. (food, water, clothing).

Not seven cruises in the passed two years. I don't know any hard working American that has the time to take 7 cruises!

It does if you know what to "cut them off" with.
Scum like this is a bigger problem to the economy than the 1% problem.

i didnt see your post above his, but i agree with what you wrote earlier. i actually looked up my states rules and for some reason i thought you couldnt use them at ATMs here, but i guess you can.

the thing im most amused by is the folks who treat this as the biggest problem our nation has ever faced or some other such nonsense, while ignoring the other much more costly abuses of "the system" because its easier to point the finger at poor people.

Except, just by the numbers, this stuff is actually tiny compared to the amount of wealth concentrated in the 1%.

(not to say it isn't a problem at all, just a reminder that things are relative)

I feel bad for people in a bad situation as long as they didn't put themselves there by dropping out of school or something of the like, and am more than willing to help my fellow man. I do however have no compassion for the lazy and ignorant. If you can afford beer/cigarettes, drugs, chrome wheels, etc.. GTF off of public assistance.

So yes, the story is true. Now, if he was telling the truth? We will never know.

I never said it was the biggest problem. But for people this is usually the one that pulls closer to home. People work hard for their money. And when they see people leeching off the system buying bail, chrome wheels, gaudy jewelry and new cell phones, that the tax payers can't even afford, it pisses them off.

Ah yes, it's always rewarding after a long day at work to stand behind someone at the store and watch them pay for grape drank and cookies (dinner for da keedz) with the ol' EBT, then whip out some cash for a couple packs of Kools and $30 worth of lottery tickets.

If there's any doubt about events like this actually occurring, I invite you to spend 10 minutes in any North Milwaukee convenience store (bringing some sort of weapon to defend yourself wouldn't be a bad idea either).

In his defense, maybe they were all on Carnival. Then it wouldn't really be like a vacation.

I think all politicians should submit to urine analysis before receiving their paycheck.
Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime.

seriously, this guy should lose his rights to government benefits indefinitely...the cash assistance programs are just way too easy to abuse. Michigan had to pass a law a few weeks ago to keep people that won the lottery from collecting welfare/food stamps since it wasn't reported income. a guy from saginaw was still getting assistance after winning $2million in the lottery.

it is with great routine that i see people using their EBT/bridge cards to buy food at the store, while i in turn watch their friend/cousin/brother/uncle/whatever get handed cash from their pocket to buy booze/tobacco products. i'm just so glad i bust my ass to earn a paycheck and pay my taxes to these lazy ****s can eat free steak and have spare cash to buy top shelf liquor.

A fine example of this...though I hate judge judy...this is the mindset you're dealing with:
