    ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

I think we all appreciate the work and the parts that have went into this car but the value is just not there at this time.

out of curiosity guys, i know the general consensus is the price is way too high, but for a car like this, what is a reasonable price? how much can you get for a car like this? is he better off to part it out, or try and get it in a magazine first? i work with the owner of the car, and i work on it for him, i plumbed the cooling system and routed the catch can and some other work to get it to the driving stage. i know this car inside and out, and it is nice. i told him he was asking too much, but for reference, if i could tell him what a reealistic price is, i'd have more ground to stand on. thanks, try not to be mean.

we actually make a killing on most b5 passats because they are all junk. this does not help us. this is neither his pride nor his joy. we sell cars. we fix cars. apparently you criticize people on the internet, i'm sure your car is much nicer than this. if it pisses you off, make your car nicer, don't try to make us feel bad about it. i'm looking to solve the price gap problem, or at least plead my case. if anyone has anything USEFUL to offer, i'm glad to hear it.

thank you, this is more like the type of answer i was looking for. the market for specialty/custom cars is an iffy one, and just because the car has a million bucks worth of parts in it no way means it is worth the sum of them. hopefully someone who will love this thing finds it, and can land on a decent price.

Agreed, in this ball park and parting it won't yield this kind of money either.

With things like this, wait for someone to make you a bunch of offers, and take the highest one you get. Obviously. More offers, the better. A lot of people prefer trading.

I'm no expert. But for $18k you'll be waiting for a long time for the right buyer.

I don't know if this is helpful, but I'm trying... I'm actively looking for a Corrado and I'm even willing to spend money on it. There's really nothing in that listing that does anything for me, and it's not just the price. It looks like a good paint job, but when I see how much was spent on it I just roll my eyes and shake my head. From these photos it just doesn't stand out like that. You could say it's the photos, but I can point to any number of pics of cars with cheaper paint that look better. It's just kind of downhill from there. I see the AMU engine and I'm just wondering Why? Going to be a small market that that appeals to. There's a lot of cooler, smaller ticket items on there, but many (not all) of them feel like they were put in for repair/restore, not upgrade. Sorry, but you don't get credit for the stuff that's supposed to be there anyway, even if you did have to replace it. Like doing your oil changes, it's expected.

You are more than welcome to ignore all that. Here's what it boils down to: Is the value there for a potential buyer? I can point to several Corrados available right now that are 90-95% of this one, and the asking price is less than half. So the answer is very simple, and it's an unfortunate one.

And as someone who's sold a number of built cars, yes, it's very frustrating. Thems the breaks.

    Bro,
Nice car i would love to have done that much work to mine before I sold it. I could kick myself for selling it just to get it out of my driveway. But I would agree I think you would have a hard time getting anything over 10k for it and at that you would need a special kind of buyer one that is young and does not know better or a collector of the model or VW's in general. Good luck it is a beautiful car and I owuld love to own it be proud of the work you did.

bump for a nice car. I do not know the owner but I do know the quality of work that the body shop does. I am sure that he spent around $6000 for the paint work alone. I have seen some of his work and it is about as good as it gets. $18000 puts you into decent 911 territory though. Anytime you dump this kind of money into a car you should probably plan on keeping and enjoying it for a while. It is too bad but $12k should get the car sold. Not that it means anything but I like the car. GLWS
