Thread: Not your average "Foxer fix"

    So my dad blew the head gasket on his Fox a while back. Pulled the head and it was cracked

    A buddy of mine gave us a free cylinder head to use (free is a great price when you're broke), but the alternator mounting "ears" were sheared off. The cylinder head came off a car that had been wrecked pretty bad and the accident sheared off the alternator mounting points

    This is what we did to make it work

    Sorry for the random question but what is the extra ground on the valve cover for?

    That's actually the regular ground that is usually on the back valve cover nut, but we moved it's location to be more accessible.

    We drilled a hole into the cylinder head to mount the eye bolt too ....lock nut and loctite of course

    Interesting, I don't have a ground on the VC.

    Some of them do and some of them don't. It was kinda a dealer "fix" thing. We all know about how finicky the grounds are. They added this to a lot of cars. My Jetta has one as well
