Just like the title says, anyway I'm not too serious yet, but have seen a few of these and thought it wasn't a bad looking car. I dug a little deeper and was pleased to see you can still get a manual trans etc.. My question is.. if this car is any fun to drive? is it a comfortable place to sit for say a two hour or longer drive (I'm aware it is an econobox) last Accent I drove was about two generations back and I couldn't return the car fast enough to the rental car outfit. Anyway TCL, tell me what you know about these or if you don't what you think?

I test drove one a while back...it was the 5-door though.

I liked almost everything about it. In the case of the 5-door the looks are a little derivative of the Mazda 3 wagon (that's not a bad thing). It kind of reminds me of the Versa in the way it feels much bigger than it actually is. It's got a little more pep/fun factor than the Versa but is still pretty sedate. Interior is fantastic, laid out very well. Very quiet and soft ride. Almost cushy.

Pretty smooth car all the way around. If I had to complain about anything, the clutch was kind of vague and you wonder how a car with near 140 horsepower can still be so slow. Also, the hatchback had horrible blind spots that rival my wife's Rav4.

But those are nitpicks. I think the Accent is pretty much a perfect commuter vehicle. If I had to buy a car in this segment it would be the SX4 but that's just because I prefer something a little less refined,if that makes any sense.

Great review, thanks Would you say it's at least as peppy as a manual Honda Fit or slower than that? I would go test drive one but every dealer in my area appears to be sold out of these things right now

It's been about 4 years since I drove a Fit and that was a first-gen model, but I would say it's about the same.

It does like to rev high and makes pretty good power in the 5-6,000 range so if you're creative and like to shift you could have a lot of fun wringing it out.

I test drove a no-options (as in no radio, no AC, crank windows) sedan last summer. I would say it is more comfortable than fun. "Low effort" (on the part of the driver, not Hyundai's engineers) would be a good description too. It would make a great commuter car.

I ended up getting a Mazda 2, though.
