You may know that I've been trying to sell my truck for about 7 months so that I will have something to drive my unborn child in in august. When it sells, I get to officially take over my wife's passat.

The problem is that I'm upside down in the loan in the amount of about $1500. Well, I had it listed at one point for $8k and was getting calls about it. I owe $9500 on it now and that is too much to ask for it.

I have someone coming to (hopefully) buy the cap from the truck tomorrow for $650.

My question is, should I apply that money toward the truck payment or give the truck some curb appeal to make it more marketable. Or since It is a basic 2wd extended cab Colorado so it sits pretty low to the ground and has some wimpy looking small tires on it. I can get a couple inch lift on it with bigger tires for a decent price, so it worth it to put the money into to make it look more appealing?

    What do you think?

Try and find comparable vehicles, or even trucks in general. Try to find say, two ford f-150s w/ 100k miles, one lifted/modified and the other stock and see what bids are doing online. Personally, I'd be more appealed to a truck (or even a car) that has upgrades-quality upgrades. $650 isn't going to do a whole heck of a lot, not even a new set of tires for sure. Do you have the $ to pay off your loan (1500)? If you'd rather not pay that, I'd put the $650 towards cutting that almost in half. How are you advertising? Maybe throw $100 into getting it on some websites and in magazines. If there is any damage (broken tail light, faded trim, etc.), take care of that and make it look new. Maybe get if buffed out so the clear coat is nice and shiny, try to get the most out of what you have to work with. You could even drop the price of the truck if you think you can swing the payoff. All about your situation and what you are comfortable with.

That's a toughy. I'm thinking you lick your wounds and get rid of it. The whole 2wd thing bugs me and I would have to really think twice about throwing money at it! Certainly not an authority here, just speaking from the gut.

We were going to just throw the cash at it to cover the difference but we would rather have that cash on hand right now.

It just kind of looks like a dud right now and I am having a hard time deciding if that will help with the sale if I can do a sort of 4x4 clone look. I noticed everyone was asking me why it looks so low and if the tires are the right size. His is what got me thinking.

It is already in good shape so I don't need to do any reconditioning or anything. Just about every person who looked at it before showed up in a 2500 silverado an was looking to save on gas.

I've had it on Craigslist, Colorado forums, eBay and a local classified ad.

I guess I'm sort of leanin toward putting the money toward the principle right now. Thanks for the thoughts!

Buy a buffer and do your best to get it spotless inside and out. (you can still use the buffer post-sale on your B6!) Make sure it's clean and freshly armor all'd anytime someone comes to look at it. Then put the rest of the money toward paying off your debt. That would be my plan of action...

    Good luck!
