I have a Confort Control Module here, in very good working condition. Its the one that controls the interior lights, remote door locks, alarm system, memory seats, etc... located under the driver's seat, which sometimes gets wet and corroded. This one is Clean.. Fits all B6 A4 and S4 $200 shipped

I know my '02 A4 has some electro-goblins (seems like fob fail when doors won't open or alarm goes off randomly when pressing buttons and needs reset). Sunroof will shut (tilt down to close with no raindrops or other provocation.
Is there a way to determine whether the fob or Comfort Control box is source of problems?
Thanks

Sounds like the first thing to do is lift the carpet under drivers seat and take the comfort module out of the black storage box, disconnect all connectors and inspect it for water damage. If no water evidence, i would still suspect it to be the cause internally and not the fob. the fob Only sends lock/unlock/trunk signals and nothing else. the comfort module controls all the functions, and most likely invaded by the goblins u talk about. You can try to replace the fob with a new one, however i highly doubt thats whats causing your issues.![]()

and before the next rain storm . . .I assume my keys would need to be reprogrammed at the dealer to match Der Neue Komfortbox. Ya?

no, the radio pairing of the FOBs to the CCM is easily done; see http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_do_you...udi_a4_key_fob

You will need VAG COM to pair the key on a B6. Also, the only way to know for sure if it is the central convenience unit is to scan the car and see if it comes up faulty.
That being said, the issues you list sound exactly like the problems I was having before replacing mine. I used my VAG COM to reprogram fobs (very easy to do) and everything works great now. I wound up buying a new unit for $300, didn't want to spend 150 on an eBay one not knowing if it would last 10 days or 10 years. Also, these units fail without having ever gotten wet. My car has never seen water inside or had wet carpet (I purchased it new) and my central convenience crapped out.

That link for programming the key won't work on a B6 after replacing the CCM. I'm 100% positive of that.

Just bought my B6, and found water underneath carpet
I have to clear those drain plugs and pop in a new CCM. I want my damn windows/sunroof/alarm/rear view readout all back, and the buzzing to stop.
