I too lean toward the top one, but I prefer a more "muted" brushed chrome look.

i'm assuming you would buy these with the designs on them...the bottom one with the mis-spaced lettering and the little diamonds/squares doesn't do it for me. perhaps, without that, it would look much better IMO. no offense to whoever has this on their Tiguan.

For my generation 1 Nissan Murano, life was good - an all black plastic protector to put on the painted bumper. For me it is about the protection aspect. Nothing fancy, just simple and good looking is all I ask.

When the clear bra is installed on my wife's new Tiguan in a couple weeks, we are having the same protective film placed on the rear bumper sill for "invisible" protection. Did the same thing on the BMW and it works well.

i would like to install the clear bra but i'm not impressed with some of the jobs i've seen around here. you can see where the clear bra stops on the vehicle and then somehow it affects the color of the vehicle - like the non-bra part, the car looks nice and shiny but the bra part, it mutes it.

The biggest concern I have with clear mask is that if someone is careless I think there could still be a mark or indentation of sorts on the underlying bumper part, whereas something more akin to the bumper sill would absorb any abuse and not transfer anything to the bumper.

I know what you mean, I was a little concerned about that before I had it installed on the BMW. From the E90POST forums I found RajaVentureshield (Rashed) at Speed and Tech Motoring in Herndon, who has a very good reputation on that board. He did an excellent job on the BMW two years ago and it still looks great. That car is a light bronze metallic and it is all but invisible. I am hoping that it looks as good on my wife's Pepper Gray Tiguan. It certainly protects the paint well. About two weeks after it was installed on the BMW I got hit by a flying piece of truck tire tread and it didn't leave a mark. This was the first time I had it installed on any of my cars. I am sorry I didn't have it installed on all my cars in the past.

You can reach him at paintprotectionfilmtek@gmail.com. Disclaimer: I have no affiliation with his business, I am just a satisfied customer.

I had the hard rubber cover on the rear bumper of my Passat wagon and Subaru Legacy GT wagon and it certainly provided more industrial strength protection than clear mask will. But since the lip inside the Tiguan's rear hatch is higher than the bumper, I am hoping it will not be as likely to get banged up. I guess time will tell...
