The Phaeton Forum 'Table of Contents' (FAQ by Category) is your friend. Have a look in there, see if you can find any discussions about air conditioning where your question might have already been raised and discussed.

Please don't send me technical questions via IM - instead, post your questions onto the end of the most appropriate thread in the FAQ, so that everyone can benefit from the answer, and everyone can assist in providing the answer. Thanks, Michael

    Hello fellow Phaeton friends,

I cant seem to locate any troubleshooting info on the A/C system so if this problem has already been asked & answered, please accept my apologies & point me in the right direstion. My 04 V8 doesn't blow cold air when the climate control system is set to the "low" temp setting. This occured last fall but if I shut the car off and restarted it, it worked fine. Now that we are back into the A/C season, I cannot seem to get any cold air from the system. I thought I saw a thread here somewhere about a problem with the blend door somewhere, but I can't locate it now. Any ideas on where to look or what to do would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you for a great forum and the oodles and oodles of useful information.

    John

    Hi John,

The place to start is with a VCDS scan using the latest downloaded version of the PC software from Ross-Tech, which includes a comprehensively updated label file for the HVAC climate controller, prepared recently by Jason/jyoung8607.

The software allows you to start the diagnostics sequence built in to the HVAC controller, which sequentially excercises all the flaps and motors over quite some time. At the end of that it should be clearer if there's a sticky flap motor, or some such.

    Regards,
    Chris

Any idea where I can get one? Is this basically like an OBDII scanner that hooks up to the same diagnostic port? How much do these run on average? I have no scan tools for my baby other than my OBDII scanner.

    Thank you,

    John
