DO NOT add any additives to it. These transmissions are already ticking time bombs. Additives are no good for them. If its slipping, just change the fluid, but you are likely already having your trans fail...

Check in here for a procedure and more info on the trans itself: http://forums.vwvortex.com/forumdisp...smission-Forum

thanks for the tip. any chance it could just be a solenoid or something its a fairly new transmission?

How many miles on it? Rebuilt or brand new? And I don't think the solenoids are something easily replaced on these. Most common failure is the valve body.

Most end up just swapping in a 5-speed when their auto craps out...its not a matter of "if" but "when" the auto fails. And its much, much cheaper to do a 5-speed swap.

only 60k on it. doesnt slip all the time though. between 2 and 3 theres some hesitation. how much would a 5 speed swap be. would i have to get a new ecu?

Sounds like a valve body failure to me.
