My car (MkV GTI, October 2005 build date) has 82,000 miles on it. I recently had the DSG fluid and filter changed. There were no problems with the transmission prior to this.

Over the last two weeks or so I have noticed a clunking of sorts in 2nd gear between 1500 and 2000rpm. There is as slight rumble from the wheels and it feels like the clutch is slipping. This same sensation is felt in 4th gear at around 2800rpm or so.

This issue happens in Manual, Sport and Automatic. The revs don't drop out and it doesn't matter how light/hard my foot is on the gas.

I can pretty much avoid the issue by shifting early but I am pretty worried.

Does anyone have any ideas? I'd like to figure out what's going on before I take it to the dealer. I haven't hooked up the VAG-COM yet, but I'm not expecting any codes.

    Thanks, guys.

Would it be wise to perform the "reset" as outline on Ross Tech's site?

I just disconnected the battery, did the DSG reset, throttle body, kick down, and the test drive through the gears.

    no dice

I'm not looking forward to taking this thing to the dealer... I do find it interesting that it started shortly after the 80k service.

Try a new oil change, at a different dealer. This might be caused by excess / lack of oil in your box. Be sure they have the right tools and knowledge to do the oil change; search on youtube for tutorials first if you're curious.

This is the top dealer in the region actually... I really don't want to go spend another ~400€ on this at a different dealer.

I made an appointment today, the car will be going in next Friday. I will make sure the service advisor either rides with me or drives it with me in the car before I leave it with him.

I've looked at the procedure in the Bentley guide and some DIYs - it's a bit much for me to handle in the driveway w/o the fancy required tool.

No doubt the idiots at the dealer installed a firmware upgrade without telling you. It possibly didn't sit well with your tranny. Why mess with something if it wasn't broken in the 1st place, right? Go back and see if this is what they did!

Dropped the car off this morning and had the service writer and head mechanic ride with me and drive it themselves. Tthey agree something is amiss...

    ______

So... the dealer called. They have no idea what's wrong with it, other than the fact that something is wrong.

They called/emailed over to Wolfsburg to get some direction...

I guess they can't do anything about it for another few weeks, so I'm picking it up tomorrow and then parking it to let it sit until they want me to bring it back in.
