Figured it might be a neat idea to start a things to do thread.
What interesting things have you found to do in or around Helen during SoWo?
Some things I know of:
Tubing
Tallulah Gorge
Driving through the mountains

Priority Number 1 should be enjoying the SoWo experience. It's a town wide event. There are local shops that offer discounts to show goers as well as a few mini golf places.
I can't recall the name right now, but there is either National Forest or State Park just before you enter Helen that has a lake that does paddle boat rentals. I've never done it, but it would be fun.

Very nice look out. I fried my front passenger wheel bearing in my MKII in the way back down 3-4 years ago.

I normally visit Helen at least twice a year, so just trying to find some different things to do while there.

Never knew about the look out! I'm going to have to check it out this year. That looks pretty awesome. I wonder if there's a little restaurant or snack bar up there?

We've gone tubing down the (very cold) river. Which was a ton of fun...but cold.
I know there is a zipline place close as well as horseback riding place not too far out of Helen.

before you go and pay for tubing leave a couple 6 packs down the stream a bit and then go and get them. they will not allow you to walk up and get in a tube with beer

I would like to see the national parks or bears , time dependant.

The bear park is open the entire weekend and its a free roaming thing so you can do it at your own speed. You can walk the entire 'zoo'(?) in about 5 minutes, there are reptiles etc there but the main time eater is the bears, it took like like 3 minutes to see all the other animals then we sat there and fed the bears for like a hour.
I highly suggest everyone go there and pay the $7 for the option to feed the bears, not just because its amazing but it helps the keepers able to provide for them.
