You don't replace bulbs silly you replace the whole kit. HID's are the most throw away mod on your car.

Does anyone actually have any pictures or manual of how this all works for a CC? I kow all the parts and pieces and that the bulb and the housing it plugs into can be unplugged but there has to be an actual procedure to this...

The VW manual is crap and all it says to do for xenon is to seek a professional...

I am trying to remember if you have to drop front bumper to remove lights to get the bulb out but I am thinking you don't have to do it. I could be wrong. I haven't looked at a CC in like 4 months and its slipped my mind.

If your under your 3yr/36k warranty still the bulb is covered.

I am still within my warrenty for another few thousand miles but I always do most of the work that I can on my cars before I HAVE to take them in. This is a rather minor thing for my car but still would like to do it myself.

Why spend $150 on OEM quality bulb and do the work when its free?

I will just ask one more time if anyone has replaced the HID bulbs that come stock on the VR6 by themselves and can help me determine what exactly needs to happen?

From the pictures I looked online of the engine bay of a VR6. It appears you can open the rear access panel of the headlights for the main beam with no need to remove the front bumper.

If you want to can look at see if this is true or take pictures of the back of the housing. If you can see the back ouf the housing well enough to take a picture. Should be no need to drop bump and pull headlights.

My dad returned his least 09 vr6 back in December. Thats what I remember from seeing his car and working at VW.

    1. Remove the plastic cover on the bulb housing.
    2. Push in and move metal spring clip towards the center of the bulbs base.
    3. Pull out bulb, wire will still be attached.
    4. Use flat head screwdriver to disconnect bulb wire, and remove bulb.
    5. Installation is reverse of removal.

That worked! I couldn't figure out the last time how to disconnect the wire from the bottom of the light but found the little clip that had to be pushed back by the screw driver.

Now all my interior lights, license plate lights, and headlights are 6000K!

    Thanks!
