As the title states, I'd like to do something cool/different with my piano. Moving to a new house soon and have a blank slate as far as the room goes. I'd like it all to tie in somehow. Problem is, i'm not artistic in the art/design manner. Also, I'm 24, and I'm not yet ready for my piano room to look "untouched, proper, or traditional" for lack of better words.

I think I want to go with some sort of street art/graffiti/stencil/mural style. I am open to anything, however.

I'd like some color the walls are white, the floors are a light hardwood. I can do complementary furniture/art accordingly, but the piano will be the focal point.

First and foremost, I'd like to make it semi permanent, if possible. Maybe throw down some sort of vinyl wrap and paint over it? Or what about this stuff I see people painting their wheels with? The stuff that "peels off? Hoping for some ideas here. If not, I'll just have to be very sure of what I want, and someone capable of doing it to my standards.

I'm not sure if I'd want to do the whole piano, or just the lid area. I'm open to either. Thanks guys!

For the record, this is just an idea I had today, but I'm thinking it could be cool.

TLDR: Need a design for my piano, and ideas for how to decorate around it.

    Piano:

No pics of the room yet, sorry.

A good friend recently began offering up his services as a mural artist and I see (from your other thread about piano moving) that you will be in Pittsburgh soon.

He is funding his wedding really quite good. He recently put up a Craigslist ad:

    Figured I'd mention it.

you should just vinyl wrap the thing bright red.

imo, graffiti can get tacky really fast, unless you have someone absolutely amazing doing it.

i think wrapping it first, whether vinyl or another material, prior to personalizing it. Although you aren't ready for it to have a traditional look, its a beautiful piece and one day you might want to go back to the original look.

Call this guy, if you're serious I'm sure he'd travel to you. This is just the tip of the iceberg on what kind of stuff he can do.
