I have some rigid plastic engine bay parts that need painted. Some will be base/clear and some will be single stage urethane. In the past I have used SEM aerosol plastic adhesion promoter with decent results, but what should I be using under real paint? I usually use PPG products if that matters.
I like "Bulldog" adhesion promoter, it comes in either an aerosol can or
by the quart can for putting in a spray gun.
I prefer to use my gun to spray it.
That's for any bare plastic.
After that I always use epoxy primer if I want super good adhesion.
that really makes a difference for items like bumpers in reducing
road rash. Not all epoxies are flexable, I use one by SPI that is.
I use glasurit 934-70 one step plastic primer. Simply clean with plastic cleaner, apply the 934-70 as the first coat followed by 285 primer coats. I used to use bulldog, but it's not covered under glasurit's warranty.
