I bought this car on July 1st from another Vortex member to use as a winter vehicle. It was originally a 16v but was swapped over 8 years ago from what the previous owner tells me. The motor, tranny, and cluster are all VR6. Since that time I have put 8,000kms on it and have performed the following maintenance:
-Driver side headlight replaced/both bulbs replaced
-New windshield wipers
-Valve cover gasket replaced
-Distributor O-ring replaced
-Upper intake manifold gasket replaced
-Distributor/cap/rotor/plug wires (all 7)/plugs replaced
-Intake pipe was torn so that was replaced
-Radiator replaced with a brand new OEM one
-Transmission replaced with one that had 2xx,xxxkms on it (the clutch has plenty of life left)
-Rear main seal done
-Oil pan gasket replaced
-Oil cooler O-rings replaced
-Pass. side drive axle replaced with one that had 2xx,xxxkms on it
The wagon is lowered with some sort of sport springs and it has an aftermarket exhaust. I am not sure on the brand for either. I have a BBS wheel on one corner which will come with the car, I also have the spare steelie/cap in the trunk with a flat tire on it. The car has Girling brakes on the front and mkIV rear discs.
The vehicle now has 378,xxxkms on it and has run strong each and every day I drove it. The only 2 times it left me stranded were when the tranny went, and when I left the stereo on and the battery died.
So we're talking about a 20 year old vehicle and although the floor and strut towers are in excellent shape (I have been under the car and I can provide that point of view for the buyer), there is some rust on the hatch and the driver front door. If I kept the car I might replace those panels, but probably not. There are the usual bumps and bruises but nothing that would turn you off from 20 feet away. As far as what it would need for a safety the only thing I am aware of is tie rods. I don't know why, but the car has a 55L fuel tank so the gauge is not accurate. The fuel pump is loud, it was for the previous owner and it is for me...neither one of us have had any issues with it. If you're looking for a show car, keep looking. If you're looking for a reliable daily, here is your car.
I can take more pictures if need be. I would like to see $2200 to start off. I am open to offers but now lowballs.

how much do you want for the wagon if yu keep the 5 lug swap ; the exhaust and the vr6 drive line?
i have a g60 drive line; a tdi swap or a 16v swap at home already....
i can provide a 98 gold 4 door auto aba and parts or cash on top; so you can have a dayli driver while the driveline gest pulled from the wagon.
do you have a red L.E.D. lamp omn the driver side door card by the lock plastic thing?
Bump. So YOU'RE the one I passed a couple months ago on the 401 (I was driving the slammed a4 Denim Blue Avant with a Scraped Crusaders sticker + baby on board sign) with the giant Scraped Crusaders sticker, haha. Car looked good. Best of luck with both sales man!!
