the MK5 R32 camshaft thread

I was just curious if anyone had got input from Jeff A. as to how they might work on an NA car as compared to the 268/264s which I gather he prefers to the 272/272s for NA applications.

Actully 272/272 were OK on my car N/A they are fantastic on a FI car though, especially turbo . 272s retard the sound on an NA car from the o.:Rignal R32 sound. I know Dubnick had them on his CW MK5 R but I'm not sure the differences they made for him.

Im also looking forward to hearing the sound difference being such a large split

Id like to see gains between a 272/264 and the 268/264 that is what i wanna see

I have the pre cams dyno, sound from the front , rear, and during driving made. The cams are already installed, but waiting for my knock senor to get replace. I will do a comparison after that is done.

I have 270/264 on order. I haven't received them yet.

I'm looking at Motoring Unlimited as a possible for the install. I chatted with him at the last Audi Club event (sponsor).

I don't know anything about dynos. A quick google says there's none within two hours drive, which seems weird. I could go with DoubleJ again for the cam install, but if I did that, I'd wait for a PDX trip (maybe Quattrofest in November).

Or I could change my mind and resell.... Or cams AND FI....

I looked at JRutter's install photos, and started thinking about what else would be cost effective to install while the front end, manifold and valve cover were off. 550 injectors? Those tend to be bundled in stage 2 FI kits, or E85. I'm not sure what if Anything happens if you just do injectors.

You can't install injectors without a tune to accomodate them. Chances are it won't run at all, or very very poorly.

where are you going to do dyno?? I found this place, Akuma Motorsports, in Woodbridge, it's AWD dyno and only 105 for 3 pull.

Good place, that is where I got my UM tune, but their dyno is only 2 wheels.

I wasn't able to do the dyno on Sat.. They were short on person and very busy so I waited for 2 hours and still wasn't able to do the dyno.. I left and have to get a new appointment..... i guess it was good because temperature was at the 95 degree.

On the good note, on the way home, i was able to keep up with a supercharged Jeep liberty and played with Porsche Boxster S

Sorry to hear that and really looking forward to hearing / seeing your results!! That said - what was the temp when you did your before dyno? If it was a significant difference, it may be worth waiting till it cools down a bit?
