Long time member, first time posting in the car audio forum.

My car is an 08 4 Door FSI GTI Manual Transmission with premium 7 headunit no satellite radio

I ordered the pioneer AVH-P1400dvd from Crutchfield along with the PAC C2R-VW2. Is the install pretty much plugging up the harnesses and I'm good? This is the first time I install a headunit myself. Not new to doing anything electrical or mechanical. I've always had my brother install my head units but he's in another city now.

    Thanks!!

    Pics for Kicks!

No (but at this point, I'm not sure it matters).

Then all the reviews that I read on Crutchfield regarding the PAC harness being plug and play with no splicing was false? Just figured I'd get some feedback from you tech guys on here.

No it's not false. It's plug and play and requires no spicing INTO the FACTORY harness. You'll still need to wire the PAC harness to the Pioneer harness.

Yes sir. Just make sure no blue or blue white on the PAC harness is connected to anything.

I'm looking for a new headunit... just curious, what made you get this one in particular?

I chose this one because the price was in my budget and I need something that works flawless with iPod. The DVD player is extra for me. I knew I wanted a double din and a touch screen and I've always loved pioneers headunits. The pandora app is a plus and you can late install a rear camera also.

You can customize the back screen display with any picture you desire or use one of the pre installed ones. There is a color wheel to choose your display lights also.

All in all it seemed like a great radio for the price from the reviews I've read. It comes in tomorrow so I'm pretty excited to install it.

If you're going to install yourself, I'd love to see you in progress pics! Looking at the Audio forums, I don't see a lot of diy install thread for headunits. (or maybe there are some, I just haven't done an extensive search)

...at the very least post pics when it's full installed! GLHF!

I watch this guy's video on the P1400... then I clicked on his P4400 video!

Nice screen, and motorized front screen! ...albeit, like over 200 more than the P1400.

Seriously who needs pictures of installing a radio? There's like 4,901 DIY's on vortex about putting a radio in a mk4 alone but people still ask the same ridiculous questions over and over anyways.

So why would the point be?

    1. because I'm learning how to take pics with my 60D.
    2. because most people like to see in progress pics
    3. because I couldn't find anyone else on the tex with pics of a 4400bt (it's this years Pioneer model)
