Simply stated, I had to do two 'panic' stops at 5 mph and under (idling basically) and my brakes suddenly went soft and grabbed. The pedal felt very weak and then picked up again. I pressed my brakes again while driving and they were fine. Any ideas?

    booster?

try bleeding them brakes, get some fresh brake fluid ran through there.
Check pads, check rotor width. Inspect all lines for damage or kinks.

Top off the fluid for sure. All these get done and you still have problems I would think Brake Booster.
