One of the best voices in music. So bummed.

    Dear Friends,
Levon is in the final stages of his battle with cancer. Please send your prayers and love to him as he makes his way through this part of his journey.

Thank you fans and music lovers who have made his life so filled with joy and celebration... he has loved nothing more than to play, to fill the room up with music, lay down the back beat, and make the people dance! He did it every time he took the stage...

We appreciate all the love and support and concern.
From his daughter Amy, and wife Sandy

    Thanks for the music, Levon.

Strangely, I thought he was gone already.
    Still sad.

WXPN in Philly played a solid 30min of songs by The Band today around 2pm--i kind of figured that he must have finally died.didn't know a whole lot of his music, but i know that The Band was tight with Dylan and other similar artists all through the '60's and '70's.
    very sad

The music world will miss this guy.

I love watching The Last Waltz, you can feel the tension between Levon & Robbie, yet Levon puts his soul into the performance nonetheless. A class act, and an under-recognized rock&roll icon. RIP Levon.

I liked Mickey Harts comments yesterday:

    We just lost an original...
Now Jerry has a great rhythm section...
Levon was an amazing rhythm master...Rollin and tumblin, his backbeat bringing home the sweetest groove this side of Congo square. And the grit in his voice...magnetic.

    Bon voyage Levon

You can see how tight they were when Dylan's part comes on. They aren't even sure what he is going to play but you can see them all glance at Dylan and just instantly pick up where he is going.

Robbie did go see Levon in the hospital which I suppose is nice.
