SOLD!!! But in good hands. I'm looking forward to seeing it around
Still not sure if I should do this but if it goes to a good home so be it.
Just got it out of storage yesterday and I'm using it as my daily again. Interior still smells like mothballs I'll fix that.
But anyway, 1988 Scirocco 16v, engine is bone stock, just turned 168k miles. If you ever had any doubt that a CIS-E fueled 1.8 couldn't run like a Swiss watch I'd have you come take a look see.
Front end consists of some smoked Euro E30 smileys and I think the reason why I love it so much is because it kind of reminds me of the Euro Mk3 Capri. Especially with the Kamei grille spoiler. That's a Zender grille by the way. Of course there are many other Euro goodies, bumpers, rear valence (so you don't have those darn holes left from removing the US bumpers), turns, mirrors (yes, no annoying "objects in mirror...script"), front plate holder,...
Body is straight, original paint, so there is some wear there, all glass is original! Even the windshield so that has a little clouding in the corners and some pitting. Doesn't bother me because having a VW/Audi stamped windshield to me is priceless.
Interior is clean, original, seats are nice, dash has 2 cracks. I swear I almost died when the first crack appeared a few winters ago. This is a very low optioned 16v (I wanted it that way) so it has no sunroof, manual windows, no MFA. Does have A/C and power steering.
Cost has never been an object when it came to replacing a part. It shows. You can drive this Scirocco and then go drive any other and feel the difference. To me, this one is perfect.
But I won't bore you with text, here are some recent pictures :
I've always considered this car as a resto-mod. So anything and everything is period correct. From the Momo Benetton Formula 1 racing wheel to the Centra Type 11's. Hammond window louvers are not pictured but included!
Car is sitting on H&R coilovers for amazing handling and what I consider perfect ride height.
Everything on this car is new. Engine accessories, suspension, brakes, interior. You name it!
But it must have cons you ask? Well, the passenger front fender isn't original to the car. The previous owner had it pained and the paint is flaking on the plastic 16v kit. I haven't gotten it repainted because I was going to wait and do the whole car.
There you have it, in about a nutshell.
Asking price? I'm not hurting for money and wouldn't be disappointed if it didn't sell.
