At the end of April I'll be heading to Beijing with my parents and early on in May I'll be landing in Berlin with a friend, we're going to rent a car and just drive where we want.

I'm mostly curious about places to visit in western Europe i.e. Germany, France, Switzerland also any where to sleep on the cheap? We're departing at the end of May from Heathrow, we're hoping to visit the Nurburgring but don't exactly know if we can take a rental there. Anyways, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, Beijing too!

western europe is a pretty big place.
    what is your budget?
    what are you into?
do you prefer to train between cities? hop on airplanes?

as a vague answer, some of my favorite cities in western europe are: barcelona, paris, the entirety of southern france, munich, torino, zurich, salzburg.

i guess really, theres not many places ive disliked except for most of england...although they never think of themselves as european, anyway

milan was a bit boring for italy
