Thread: HUGE DISCOVERY- Activate Full MFD on your MK6

    1. 04-21-2012 04:12 PM #101
It's amazing....I used the mpg thingy and kept my speed to 60-65 mph. I better judged lights when stopping and I drove to brooklyn and back....about 100 miles. On the way there I got 37 mpg. Figuring this can't be right I wanted to see what I got on the way back. Several hours later I left my friends place and drove back. this time there was an accident on the BQE and some normal traffic elsewhere. This is what I got on my return trip. As you can see driving with fuel econ in mind and this nifty MFI trick!

It sure is a real treat. I am more conscious as well. Best mod I've I done to my car and have been extremely happy with it. Glad you enjoy it.

Nice. Too bad you have to find someone who has the same mileage lol The miles cannot be changed past 100 miles.

there are ways to change milage. what would be more realistic in my opinion is taking the gli screen/brain portion and removing it and putting it in your existing cluster...that could work. I could be totally wrong though..lol

      fit looks perfect too:

Dealership would have to do it for you. There is an immobilizer in the cluster to prevent people from swapping clusters with lower miles. I believe they are able to transfer the milage and other info from one cluster to the other.

I work for VW so I know that it's impossible for the scanners to change mileage once It goes past 100 miles. The immobilizer won't be the issue, the mileage would. If someone purchased a NEW gli cluster, that would more than likely work perfectly.

Ill stop now...I have a habit of getting off topic here !!

Any chance you have the p/n# for the switch? Does it matter which one I get?

This is the part number for the standard SE wheel right side:

      Manufacturer Part Number: VW5C0959538A

Your wheel should look like the one posted in the first post of the thread

Switch only. Your harness is already the right one. You will also need coding as mentioned

How in the heck do you get the damn airbag off. I have watched the video about 5 times and can not get the clips to release.

haha not as easy as it looks, eh? what you want to do is stick a flat head in one side and then tug on that side of the bag at same time. I find it helps if you have a friend pull the bag while you twist the the flat head a little. It will feel like your going to break something but you kinda have to tug on the bag until that side comes loose. Then do the other side. Probably a good thing that its tough to pull off as you wouldnt want that thing to launch at your face if deployed

Fast forward to 0:30. That is where they show you how to remove the little clip things that pop the airbag out.

The process is the same on our vehicles.
