Thread: Official 2012-2013 Denver Broncos

  1. 04-18-2012 08:40 AM #1
Kicking off a new thread and a new year!

May Peyton stay healthy and survive the Pittsburgh Steelers. Our new
schedule is rough indeed, and the NFL isn't cutting Peyton any slack.

Well, should be a good year. It appears that Peyton is about 90% there,
and he's already driving the defense fits in training camp.

If our schedule wasn't so difficult, I'd say for sure we'll make the playoffs.

    Nice video.

Boy do I have high hopes for the season. Everything I've heard out of camp so far has been positive. My only concern right now is Orlando Franklin’s concussion. I'm going to watch the scrimmage at Mile High on Saturday, which is always fun. If I see anything of note I’ll let you guys know.

I think Stan put it best, “Go America, Go Broncos.”

The stadium practice was fun, over 41,000 people showed up and I was with my young kids so it was tough to really watch the practice. The only thing that I saw that sort of worries me is that our fans go nuts once Peyton starts to audible. Hopefully the folks at the regular season games get a clue. Go Broncos!

Here's the hoping we start off the new football season with a complete pounding of the Pittsburgh Steelers....

...though I actually expect a win I know it's going to be an up and down game. First games are never very pretty.

11 of 17 on 3rd down conversions? AUGH! 36 seconds of possession in the 3rd quarter?

Still, we won 'cause of Peyton and Porter. How did I miss the off-season trade for Porter?

1st game this season against the best defense in football and we won.
    Ben was hitting everything too.

    Man, what an opener!

That defense was missing some very key players too.

At any rate it was a great game. I loved when Manning stepped up to the line called a play and then Troy runs up to the line. So Manning calls another play. So Troy steps out...but then he steps back in so Mannings like screw this and calls a time out.

We were missing Derek Wolfe and (forget his name - our nose tackle), and DJ Williams too. No excuses in football. You can say that without a big guy in the middle our QB pressure was far less than it would normally have been....

Our run defense was night/day compared to last year.

Lots of positives. Tamme played a great game. Only one or two dropped balls. The only downside was defending 3rd down, but we put them into a lot of 3rd and long situations.

I think we'll see a lot more hurry up in the future....

Did Wolfe leave the game early? He had a sack last night.

    ....
Its not an excuse. Its just true, The "best defense in football" missing 2 of its best/better defenders didnt hurt Manning in his first game back in over a year.

I wasnt suggesting the Steelers would have won if they were at full strength.

Didnt he get his sack in the 4th quarter when Ben was sacked 3 consecutive times?

yeah, it was Ty Warren, one of our premier tackles, not Derek Wolfe, who sprained his elbow and left early in the first half. So, I think it evens out in terms of injuries on both sides. Maybe we would have scored a few less points, but then, maybe they wouldn't have made so many first downs....

Correction: looks like Ty is done with a torn triceps again. That's going to hurt our pass rush.

Everything sucked about that game and it was still close at the end.

Now we host the Texans. Tough schedule!

Nice to blow out a bad team, but the Raiders have had a tendency to run
all over us and make us look bad in past years. This time? NOT.

Next up are the Patriots in New England. UGH. Who thought up this
schedule? I don't think we'll be blown out, but winning is a long shot.
We'll need our best game ever on defense just to keep it close.

Well, I think we're past the worst. We should beat the Chargers.
We're getting better every game, and learning hard lessons as a team.
This is the time to do that: early in the season.

    38-17 over the Chargers. I can dream, can't I?

Great comeback! Could barely stand to watch the first half. But the team came together, which is a BIG deal.

Now we are at 3-3, tied for 1st in the division, with the toughest part of our schedule behind us, and a bye week to work out the kinks and work on lessons learned.

So, we absolutely dominated the Saints. I wasn't sure how our defense would play
against them, but they ended up playing lights out. Nice.

Still another fumble lost in the 1st quarter leading to 7 points though. I have to
    grumble about something....

    Next up Cincy in Cincinnati!

The whole team definitely showed up last night. Third down defense was stout, Saints were 1-12(13?) on third downs. Leading before half time was nice as well.

Schedule starts to soften up now. I’m excited to see how Champ will match up with AJ Green Sunday.

I can't believe how effective Peyton's audibles are. I think we beat the Saints ten or so times with the same bubble screen play that DT seems to take for 20+ yards each time.

Cincy is a young, hungry team, and I'm hoping we don't have a let-down.

Almost had that let-down, and Peyton didn't hit 300 yards passing. But, the
win is more important. The better teams in the league win a tough road game
    like this....

Team win, this one. Only downside is we keep fumbling and losing fumbles.
Next up Chargers at home. Chargers are always dangerous, and they will
be fighting for their playoff lives (and maybe the coach's tenure too).

Another solid win by the team. Defense playing well, but then, when you're
ahead, you can pin your ears back. Von Miller IS a beast.

Kansas City next. One game at a time!

At this point, it's hard to imagine Denver not winning their division. With RapistBurger injured, Denver isn't going to have much shot at a bye with Houston and Baltimore coasting in. The wildcard round has some intriguing possibilities. Peyton Manning vs his old Colts team or a Denver-Pittsburgh rematch from last year with a healthy RapistBurger and Polamalu.

  32. 11-19-2012 09:25 AM #32
I was just talking Pittsburgh and Ravens with a local fan (next office over).
Apparently they play each other again in only two weeks!

(As for the rapistburger thing, just for the record, girls know EXACTLY what they're
doing. The whole sugar and spice thing is entirely and completely wrong. But maybe
I'm missing some sordid details in that affair.)

We also travel to Baltimore to play the Ravens later this year. I don't know
what Baltimore's schedule is like the rest of the year.

We travel to the Chiefs next.
Then we host Tampa Bay (far from an easy game now, the way they're playing)
Host the Raiders, hopefully toast them,
    Travel to Baltimore.
    Host the Cleveland Browns
    Host the Chiefs.

An ugly game I couldn't watch (not on TV here), thankfully. We played
like crap, from everything I'm reading, but Knowshon didn't fumble and
    we got a win.

Next up we host Tampa, which is going to be a very, very difficult game.
It'll be a good one to watch though.

I had to watch it through RedZone, not a pretty game, but I'll take any win in Arrowhead.

I've never signed up with RedZone. Expensive? Is it PPV or part of a cable TV package add-on...?
