Calling IT managers!: I have an issue, I changed hosting companies for my site. it has now been over 48 hours since I updated the DNS settings. The site shows up on my iphone and ipad. BUT my work computer shows it as being down. I have already reset the cache on chrome as well as the internet options (windows XP) HELP ME!!

Chances are it has to do with the DNS servers your work ISP uses.

Can you try putting in the IP address of the new host and see if that works?

edit: actually, clear your DNS cache just to be sure. Go to Start > Run... > type in 'cmd' without quotes and hit [enter]. Type 'ipconfig /flushdns' without quotes and hit [enter] again.

What about the direct IP address in your browser?

Do you have a DNS server within your LAN? Have you reset (power off/on) your router?

To clear DNS resolution records from your LAN server?

Point yourself at different DNS servers.

    OpenDNS uses:
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220

    Google uses:
    8.8.8.8
    8.8.4.4

Go to a command prompt (cmd) and do an nslookup on your address. Type nslookup by itself and at the > prompt you can change servers by typing 'server '. Try a few different DNS servers and see what IPs are returned. 4.2.2.2 is a server that's easy to remember and type. I've been using it for over a decade. If the default server returns different results than other servers, then the issue is with the DNS server used at work.

Is this a work domain? Was the site hosted by your work's ISP? They could still have DNS zone files, meaning the DNS server you are hitting at work thinks its still authoritative and is not looking for updates.

Post up the domain and your results and perhaps we can help more.
