still all alone...no one have any insight?
I wanted to upgrade the alternator on my 2003 Jetta GLI 24v. Currently I have the stock 120A alternator. I want to install a 1000w amp and I don't think the alternator is going to be able to keep up with the draw of the amplifier. Anyone think I could install a toureg 3.2L 150A alternator on my 24v?
Forget upgrading the alternator.
Bring these specs to car toys or someone who can properly build a box. http://i.imgur.com/ktYVz.jpg
Buy this amp http://www.crutchfield.com/p_500MRPM...00.html?tp=115
and this sub http://www.crutchfield.com/p_13610W3...Brand|JL+Audio.
The box is designed to fit in the trunk of a MK4 and use the stock alternator, and it's also the correct volume for the sub. Once it's tuned properly and you have a strong/clean signal from the head unit you'll be amazed. It will hit harder then anything you can fit in the space and won't have that floppy bass noise when you bring the volume down.
Running a 2nd battery would probably be easier then messing with the alternator. My lights never dim and I'm running a single battery with the stock alternator.
The car audio section maybe better suited to help you with audio related upgrades.
The amount of pressure created by this system will make your ears hurt, be careful.
