Thread: KRP Cruise Nights: Inaugural Event, May 18th, 2012, Gates open at 6PM

  1. 04-18-2012 04:14 PM #1

UPDATE: Due to a large amount of graduations, the date has been pushed back to Saturday, June 2nd!

We're very happy to announce the date of the inaugural KRP Cruise Night! On Saturday, June 2nd, the gates at KRP will open starting at 6PM and all are welcome! Whatever you're driving, be it import, domestic, or classic, we'll have a spot for you or your club at KRP!

So what makes our cruise night special? The chance to rev your engines, show off your sounds, great food & music, and participate in a tire-shredding burnout contest! What better location to hold a cruise night? Unlike shopping centers, KRP is dedicated to racing. We won't care if you rev your engine up, honk your new fancy horn, or show off your sounds. Naturally, we'd want you to be respectful of others, and will enforce as needed, but you won't have to worry about getting a ticket for showing everyone what your V8 or blow-off valve sounds like.

We'll be lining the Sand Drag return road with fresh asphalt in preparation for our first ever burnout contest! Participants will be able to stage in front of a seated crowd for prizes! Also, drivers will be able to participate in a nighttime parade of vehicles for anyone that wants to show off their sounds, their engine, or their looks!

Revolution Motorsports will be sponsoring the Street Legal Burnout Competition while South Seas Harley Davidson will be sponsoring the bike competition. Both will be offering a $300 gift certificate to the winner of each competition. In addition, Security & Sound Systems will be hosting the Hawaii Car Audio SPL Sound-off competition. We'll have some great and cheap eats provided by our concession and special lunch-wagon guests along with fantastic music and even karaoke!

There will be a small fee of $5 per person with children 5 and under entering free at the gate. This fee will be used to pay for security, EMT, lights & gas, insurance, and any other fees necessary to hold the event. Burnout box competition will be $15 per vehicle.

We'll have plenty of clean bathrooms, tons of parking, extensive media coverage, security and EMT on-hand, and the parking area will be packed, rolled and prepped for show vehicles.

We have tried very hard not to conflict with any upcoming cruises nights, so we hope the turnout will be great! We'll have more information soon in addition to radio & flyer advertisement. Remember to check the Honolulu Street Pulse and KRPHawaii.com for upcoming events!

Thanks all, see you there! We've got some goodies will be giving away and are working out the details right now!

  12. 04-21-2012 05:57 PM #12
Due to the massive amount of graduations going on the 18th & 19th, we've pushed the cruise night back to Saturday, June 2nd! We hope this will allow more people to attend. It also gives us more time to get the asphalt laid and prepped as well as making the event bigger and better!

    We apologize for the inconvenience!

  13. 04-22-2012 11:04 PM #13
Nothing beats a turbo welded onto the manifold. Screw zipties! They won't withstand the heat that a strategically placed tack weld where a nut and stud should be. But hey! It saved me a ton of money in labor I woulda been charged to make it the way is shoulda been in the 1st place.

LOL..what is this thread about? LOL...sounds like some peeps need to take the grudges out to the track.

Exactly. Support the events that will help make that dream a reality. It doesn't happen if people don't help make it happen. That paved drag strip will cost at the very minimum half a million dollars. It doesn't look like any big time investors are interested in coming down...that only leaves grassroots as the answer.

Anyways, we're going to print our initial flyer...last call for inclusion as a supporting club. Thanks.

Agreed. Just suprised we haven't heard much from buildthetrack.com anymore. They had a strong running back in 2009. I am a huge supporter of giving people a chance to make it legal. Hope it works out.

  20. 04-25-2012 11:22 PM #20
That's cuz KRP & Build The Track have merged, pretty much. I'm the one that runs BTT, and priority has shifted over to the track. I guess I should do more updates? It has been awhile...

What an awesome, overwhelming turnout! A few lessons learned, but overall, it was incredible. We were totally blown away...at 6PM there was an absolute flood of people...it was crazy! The entire park was packed with people, and the word is that minus a few problems, everyone had a blast!

It was kinda cold, wasn't it? I'll mention that...we'll have more food and lunchwagons at our next event.

A little late to press, but the cruise night was a pretty massive success...over 2,000+ people showed up.

Here's the official video of the event as well as links to the photos!
