      SOLD !!

Selling my 1998 Jetta TDi. I originally bought this car as a donor to swap a TDI into a mk2, but I simply don't have time for it. Here are the details:

Bought the car last fall with 18X,XXX miles, had a running issue where it would go into limp mode under sustained boost. Troubleshooting uncovered that the N75 valve was bad, so I replaced that and it has run perfectly since then. Pulled the intake boot and the manifold isn't too crusty. My brother checked the timing belt and it looked fine. Ended up daily-driving the car though the winter and had zero issues with it. Then, one day, wandered out to the car and it looked like this. Some jackass rear-ended it and drove off. Looks like it must have been a truck with a small plow, as it left no parts or anything behind. But whatever. Car still has a clean title as it only had liability on it. Now I need to sell it as I want the money for other stuff around the house.

      1998 Jetta TDi, 193k miles, 5spd
      - transmission shifts fine, clutch is fine, though it's probably original
      - motor runs great and the TDi pulls like it should for being bone stock - no abnormal smoke at startup or anything
      - front struts blown
      - one of the front rotors is warped
      - tires are so-so
      - cruise, A/C, power windows/sunroof/locks all still work
      - all doors still open fine
      - trunk does not open
      - all non-broken lights work AFAIK
      - no broken glass
      - I will be keeping the CD player
      - non-power cloth seats pretty clean for the age but not perfect
      - it's a midwest mk3, so it's covered in rust - floors are soft and there isn't a perfect panel on the car, not even the hood
      - check engine light is burned out

Depsite the issues, you will not find a more perfect car for a TDI swap. You could literally (though probably not legally) drive the car home, wherever that may be.

      My price: $1700
