    I have a Audi 3A crate motor being mated to a 020 tranny for a swap into a Mk1.
I don't have the engine /tranny plate (the cover plate that goes on after the crank flange with the oil seal). Anyone know which one I should use?

I can't remember for sure but believe the 020 one will work better. The one for the 02A will also work, but when going the other way a few times I recall having to trim (spelled cut) the metal in a place or two to get it to fit good. I really would suggest finding one of each at a strip lot to see which works better. The 3a most likely had a 228mm flywheed and "standard" clutch setup which could also have a little to do with fitment (I think it did in my case).

you want the LATER 020 inspection cover..

the early one is one piece, and bolted on the block under the flywheel..

the LATE one is 2 pieces, the lower half bolts on separately, makes it ALOT easier to get at those 2 rear oil pan bolts..

you can find the later one on any mk3 car, some mk2s may have even had them!

i WOULD NOT use the 02A inspection cover, its not shaped right, you gotta cut it.

Thanks guys, I checked the Vag Cat and found that the 1988 Scirocco used a 2 pieces plate (they call it an intermediate plate).

I'll have to see if I can find this item.

Once I get this swap done, I'm hoping to drive up to the PNW, probably pass by your neck of the woods, Glegor!
