I've been trolling the VWVortex forums for some time now for all the DIYs and random bits of amusement. Finally took the time to register in here, so I figured I would drop into the local forum and say hello! I'm hoping to start posting around here a bit, and will certainly be using the hell out of the resources.

Right now I'm riding in an '08 Jetta Wolfsburg (FSI) which I both baby and beat the hell out of. Driving from one corner of the valley to the other daily and usually going somewhere off road on the weekends.

    Hope to see y'all around!

High clearance vehicle required, you say?

I really do want to lower it, but I'm torn given where I take this car. I'm barely able to maneuver past some of those rocks as is, and have had more than one scrape already!

Yeah that's been my latest thought for sure, but I've got a few concerns with that, mostly resulting from a lack of experience and information.

First, my shocks have taken a few hard hits when I'm flying through the back country. How well are bags going to hold up to that kind of abuse?
Second, the only setup I've seen (again that lack of experience thing) used a couple large tanks, taking up a bunch of cargo area. Is that necessary or is there a way to bag it without a huge impact on cargo space?
Third, what kind of money am I realistically looking at here?

Is it really too much to ask to have a rally and show worthy car?

I get out there for rock climbing and back country hiking. A lot of climbing areas are pretty remote and most people will only go out to them with AWD/high clearance vehicles. I've had more than one Jeep Wrangler pull to the side so I could fly by!

Future? Hell, some people already take turns riding with me on some of the trails for the rollercoaster experience!
