Haven't even unloaded her yet. Which reminds me, how the hell do I get this sucker out of my truck lol! Every bike I've ever owned I road home from the seller. I figure I'll have to buy a ramp and get a friend to help back me down. You guys have any other advice?





And yes, before you all start in, I've been riding fast bikes my whole life, just sold my oldest one (929rr) and my gixxer two years before that. I've just always wanted an R1 and couldn't turn this one down after talking him down on the price as much as I did. I think he was going through a big divorce, so I got it for way less than he was asking. As far as I can tell, there's not a thing wrong with it, he's already put all sorts of upgrades into it, and it only has 11k on the clock.

speaking from semi-personal experience, my sisters now ex boyfriend had to leave his bike at our house one time, so he came back with a friend who owned a pick up and backed it up to a small hill at the end of our driveway (close to the house not the road) fairly steep, so he could just drop the gate and pretty much be level with the hill, we pushed the bike up and then into the back of the truck.

so... if you have a steep hill that you can back up to try that
otherwise yes, your next best thing would probably be to get a ramp and a buddy and get it out that way

Just run by your local supermarket, hardware store etc they all have scissor lifts with flaps, we have people come by more store all the time to load and unload bikes.

I used to unload my ATV with our steep hill in the neighborhood. Thank god for that steep hill.

Is it big enough to walk next to the bike on? If not and they're weren't too much 2 makes it a lot easier.

Ya, I got an extra wide version. I'll be trucking the bike fairly often, so it was a necessary investment.

that's how I unloaded my Marauder from my truck...alone lol. Park the truck so the back of the tailgate, when dropped is as LOW to the ground as possible. In my case, it was about 9 inches off the ground. A basic Harbor Freight ramp (which they gladly accepted as a return once I was done) leveled it out entirely. It was a breeze

Took the ARC with a buddy last weekend he low sided about .5 inch from dragging knee (gave the 929 too much throttle). Luckily he had his truck and ramps as his shoulder was jacked. Sometimes makes life a lot easier.

How do you like the Bilt gear? I'm all up for good inexpensive gear as I seem to be really hard on it and change it out every other season.

Well, that's the thing, I have full leathers but who's riding around in full leathers all the time? I figured it was time to get a set of textiles. I did a little research and there are a few things Bilt does really well, and other things not so well.

Stay away from:
- Gloves (ANY of them)
- Shoes (ANY of them)
- Some helmets
- Some (most?) pants, at least I didn't find a pair that didn't feel like it was made out of thin tent material, they were just no comparison between Alpinestar and Sedici when you could physically feel the strength of the material between your fingers.

The helmet I bought was their new Solar modular. I actually already have an Arai, but it's a good 7-8 years old now and looks pretty banged up. I bought the Solar because it has spectacular reviews and is down to $99 from $200 right now, I just couldn't pass it up. It has a built-in sun-shade that pops up/down very easy (inside the outer shield) and the clips for keeping it locked down are metal, a lot of them (even the big name brands) are plastic. I have to say, I've been more than impressed. And it feels solid and quite comfortable. I figure if I end up not liking it, I'll drop it off on craigslist for what I paid for it.

Same for the jacket, superb fit/finish with lots of options (removable liner, pant zipper, etc.) and is fully weather proof.

The pants are actually all-weather Sedici's (another company I really like) with removable liner as well.

The gloves and boots are both Alpinestar, and f'ing awesome, I'd marry them if the U.S. allowed two wives.

So the only Bilt things I'm using right now are helmet and jacket, so far I'm quite happy.

Next time, build your own ramps. I built these about a year ago when I was gearing up to go bike shopping. They've been invaluable.

Sissies. Me and my buddy just beast it. Each side, one hand on each grip and one hand on each side of the swingarm. However, we have a system and he's the only one I trust to not drop it.

The Bilt jacket was actually pretty nice for a textile, I just loved the new Icon jackets so much I had to have one and my full Alpinestar leather is pretty old and too hot (the Icon is dual-compound leather + mesh, I think they nailed it with balance of where leather should be and breathability.
