    Last I checked, throwing fire bombs and other assorted "weaponry" can't really be called "peaceful dissent".

    It started off peacefully, when one of the protestors was killed, which led to the current fiasco. I can see why oppressed people turn violent when their peaceful demonstrations turn ugly.

    That's easy for you to say. Your friends / family / neighbors / coworkers etc aren't being killed and having their human rights violated.

    Cut them some slack. The real issue is the oppression, not the moral misgivings of the protestors.
