Probably a realy stupid question, but when fitting an induction kit or performance filter, what do i do with the vacume hoses connected to the airbox? been told to just block them off and that they are not important, is that right?

Find the source of the line, (probably ends at a 3-way "T" connection), remove the line and cap the fitting.
The vacuum line operates a warm-up valve in the OE airbox, which in your case is not needed anymore.
