shock replacement nightmare...axles?

after fighting to get my front shocks out all night I gave up and took it to les schwab the next day to have my buddy who works there install my front coilovers. during the great fight to get these bastards in using every tool known to man(must have been seized) the left axle c-clip that is located in the outside joint, broke (or were guessing thats what broke) . couldnt get it back together and NONE of the part distributors les schwab goes through has the left axle for the 6spd question is...is there a way to put the axle back together inside the knuckle? it looks like the axle just backed out of the splines and it slides back in but its not snapping in place. OR is there another vehicles axle like the audi TT for example, that will fit?

so the main issue with finding an axle for the 337/20th ae 6spd is that nobody had the part number listed. here is the part number for anybody else in this situation... 1J0407271MR drivers side axle. $67 is les schwabs price. if you know somebody that can get it for wholesale, thats how much you will pay compared to almost $300 if you were to buy it yourself.

Autozone doesn't have the 6-speed axles, at least last time I checked which was quite a while.

They do now, at least in NY. I saw them myself. My friend got one for his 20th and I took him to get it. They r special order

They probably suck just like the O2J ones they sell... I went through 5 in 5 months, the O2J version... Spend the money and get OEM that will last, or raxles.

anyone have experience with raxles? my drivers inner joint is starting to go bad because even though i saw the ripped boot i neglected to replace it and now the joint is making noise . so i think i might go raxles...

Well, I've only had my Raxle for 1K, but there has to be something said about someone who can provide an axle when no one else can. I couldn't find any axles for my 2004.5 GLI other than reman from VW and new from Raxle. GAP was willing to test one out on me, but didn't know for sure theirs would fit. Try them though if you want to save a little money. Otherwise, I'd go Raxle.

If you're not slammed, then raxels are fine, but too much low tears them apart. I did one in 600 miles last year on my way to/from SoWo

I have both OEM driver/passenger side axles that were pulled off my vehicle at 90k. They are for 02M tranny off my 337 and have never seen low. $150 each axle, PM me if your interested.
