Hey everyone- I've been a long, long time lurker and only recently joined up when I was in the process of selling my MKV GTI and purchasing my .:R. Anywho, just thought I would take a moment to say hello, and to introduce myself, as well as my .:R

I've always been in to the VW scene, my first VW being a MKIII Jetta Wolfsburg MT that I lightly modded (Thule rack, JL/Alpine audio system, studded tires for trips to the hills). Sorry, no pics of my first baby!

After the MkIII hit about 120k miles on the clock, she was replaced with a 6MT Pkg 0 MKV GTI, which I had been waiting for since following the cars development via Vortex updates. The test drive blew me away, especially when compared to MKIV's I had driven, and I picked up a first gen US MKV in '06. I only installed smoked side markers and a stubby antenna, and could not have been happier:

I did love the GTI, but I had always lusted for an R32. I always found the concept of a GTI with AWD, coupled with one of the best sounding engines in the automotive universe, to be completely irresistible. Numerous R32 test drives confirmed my thoughts.

After a year-long search for area MK4 and MK5 R's, I was able to find exactly what I was looking for; an extremely low mile example, in excellent condition, and already modified in the same manner I would have, myself.

    Current Mods:

    Engine:
    - Stock

    Brakes:
    - Stock Calipers/Rotors
    - Ceramic Pads F and R

    Suspension:
    - KW V3
    - Neuspeed Rear Sways
    - Neuspeed End Links

    Exhaust:
    - Magnaflow cat-back (Sport version)

    Wheels:
    - Summer: Raderwerks RS8 19", 8.5" F, 9.5" R (now off the car - FS if anyone's interested!)
    - Rubber: FK 452
    - Winter: Stock/stock rubber

    Interior/Cosmetic/Misc:
    - Interior LED's
    - LED Reverse Lights
    - Ziza plate lights
    - Clear side markers
    - No hole front grill
    - Clearshield protection throughout
    - Tint
    - .:R36 Dead Pedal
    - Beauty Bezels
    - Key FOB cover (DBP)
    - OEM Roof Rack Bars

    Thanks for the comments, guys.

DubProdigy; I do love the Magnaflow Sport. I had read quite a few reviews complaining that it was obnoxiously loud, but I have to say, I really like it. This VR6 should be heard by all!! And, tunnel runs

sixteen10; Thanks man - DBP was the only color for me. The tires work well for me, for now (especially considering the roads here). I would consider some lower-pro tires down the road, but would most likely just switch out to a more track friendly wheel/tire setup (black BBS CH's? black O.Z. Ultraleggera's? Rubber TBD).

Am considering raising the car slightly this coming weekend. Just a little too much rubbing on the front left and rear right corners for my liking. In inspecting all four corners, it doesn't look like the suspension was set evenly by the last person to work on the car. Soon to be fixed!

Somewhat agree with you, man. That's why I took care to point out that as she sits now, she's still as I bought her, not totally as I would have built. There are some changes in store...

    Good question

This week I'm raising the suspension just a little (drivability issues as she sits now), and removing two small dents from door dings that I discovered this week... Public parking garages

    Then, the fun can begin. The wish list, in no particular order, goes;
    - UM Combo Tune
    - Mirror caps
    - Forge Intake
    - New winter treads for the stock Omanyts
    - New summer wheelset

    Then, done. Maybe...

So, running low with 19" X 9.5" wheels out back has proven an unsustainable setup for me. I like the way the stance looks while parked, but the drivability doesn't quite cut it for me, and I don't want to do any serious damage to my fenders, especially on the highways up here

I'm going to have to go stock ride height for a while, and will be throwing on the stock wheelset when I get a chance, until I can get replacement summer hoops. I'll be looking to move towards something that will work on the track (time to go down to 18"s).

If anyone is interested in the Raderwerks, please let me know

    Quick update:

Had the suspension raised, both F and R, and put the stock wheelset on. The car handles and drives SO much better. Also, I'm really liking the ride height. Lower than stock, but nowhere near slammed. I'll try to get some pics up here.

I wish I had switched up the setup when I first purchased the car- which also would have saved me the fender work I need to have done in the coming weeks

Looking forward to getting her out for a run this weekend

My recommendation about the mirror caps; stay clear of the brushed mirror covers sold by TMTuning. Mine have oxydated and bubbled after 1 winter.

Appreciate the heads-up; those were actually the exact ones I was looking at purchasing! Know of any solid alternatives that don't have issues?

I am thinking your suspension was likely corner balanced, which causes the variation in right height per corner. Especially with the KW v3's, it would be something the PO rightly invested in.

But it looks like you already tweaked with it, so I am a a day late (and dollar short).

edit: Welcome and nice looking car so far.
