this is only a poll for those who have purchased a Tiguan.

also there were only 10 choices for the poll, so obviously missed some good other choices like:

    Nissan Rouge / Murano

    Mazda CX5 / CX7

    Kia Sportage

    Mitsubishi Outlander

    Acura MDX

VW Golf / GTI / Touareg / other VW model

So these would fall under other as well as other types of cars.....

    2011 VW Tiguan SEL
    04-22-2012 09:39 PM #2
Before we bought our Tiguan, we were still deciding between sedan and SUV... I looked at some used Audi A4's, the Hyundai Sonata and the new VW Passat a few months ago. When we got more serious about buying a new car, my wife and I looked at the Tiguan, Passat and Ford Explorer. We'd have liked to consider the Audi Q5, new BMW 3-series and Range Rover Evoque but they were more than we wanted to spend. Also were originally planning to look at the new Mazda CX-5 when it hit dealers, but found the perfect year old CPO Tiguan which got us exactly what we wanted and saved us almost $10k so we jumped at it before we finished looking at everything we'd intended to. We love our Tiguan so far, so we still think we made the right call...

My shortlist included Infinity E35 and Acura MDX (I know, it's a different class...). I also entertained Golf R.

Was so ready to by the 2009 Forester XT. On the way home passed by a VW dealer and they had the Tiguan on the lot. Spiked my curiosity and then ended buying it the next day.

My wife had a CR-V and it was underpowered. We traded it for the JSW TDI. She loves the wagon, but her friends give her a hard time about it. Their husbands love it though. We like the Tiguan a lot, but we've had a lot of issues with it. We've actually had two Tiguans. The first one had an issue with the sunroof leaking and the one we have now has had issues with the door locks, the HPFP, intake manifold flap, and a few other small things. I've been thinking about trading it in on a Tundra Crewmax or another TDI since I have to drive 50 miles each way to class a few days a week.

Mine was completely an impulse purchase. Was driving my mkv jetta past a vw dealership and say a white s model sitting out front. Went to check it out cuz I never seen one before and 2 hrs later I was driving it home after trading the jetta in....

I looked at every vehicle with AWD or 4WD. In the end between prices features and driving comfort for me and my wife it came down to a fully loaded Nissan Rogue or the SE Tiguan. In the end the mid range Tiguan felt like a richer car with a better drive than the Nissan and at a better price.

I was going to get a 2012 Passat TDI SEL Prem. before I bought this 2012 Tiguan 4MO SEL. But could not find and Passat in red with black leather interior fully loaded, would have to factory order one, didnt feel like waiting 2-3 months. My father and I just purchased VW's last week. Both first european cars for both of us. We got a great deal on both cars since we bought them together. My wife and I are extremely happy with our Tiguan!

Was looking at the Q5 and TDI Passat. Couldn't really justify the extra $ for the Q5, and didn't want to wait God-knows-how-many months for a TDI Passat SEL. The financing offer through VW helped push me towards the Tig as well.

But now that it looks like we'll have a TDI Q5 in 2013, I may not have my Tig for too long.
