i am about to change the transmission fluid in my 5spd 2002 1.8t jetta, and i was thinking of changing the diff fluid while i'm down there.

i cant seem to find any diy on the diff fluid, or even any decent info as to where the drain/fill plugs are and what fluid to use.

anyone got some info on the diff?

Tranny fluid is the diff fluid, Many different options out there on what oil to use. Stick with 75w90 synthetic. The drain is a 17mm allen head plug on the bottom of the tranny, the fill plug is on the front side, same tool.

oh, so there isnt a separate drain/fill for the diff?

it just shares the oil with the tranny, so changing tranny fluid will also change the diff fluid.

and i allready have 5l of motomaster 75w-90 gear oil

You got it, should be all set then. You only need 2 liters I believe. Get the car as level as possible when you fill it with oil, then fill it up till oil starts coming out the fill hole and youre done.
