Oh man this car is cool

First off, lemme give a proper introduction since I've been in here for a couple months and never once started a post. My name is Erik or Wrek and I live in WA state. I've been around for a while, with a couple different cars including a VR swapped mk2 GTI, an e30 325i, 96 Passat vr6 wagon, c5 a6 avant, and a huge mix of other non european cars in between. Some of the more recent cars I've owned were my 93 VR Corrado and my 95 Mercedes AMG c36.
So a couple of months ago, after a couple years of missing my old c5 a6 avant, I decided to buy a 98 a4 Avant from Jeff(Lagomorph) in pearl white with terra cotta interior.
I drove it around just as was for a couple months through the winter, had some fun on snowboard trips.
Recently my wife and I purchased a new house which is amazing, but the driveway kinda sucks. Since I bought her the house, my wife finally gave me the go ahead for something I've been wanting for years... Air ride.
I have to give a HUUUUGE thank you to my friend Mike Campbell(k04a1) for all of his help with the install. The two of us did the install by ourselves in his garage space having never done an air install before. Also a big thank you to my buddy Matt Crooke at Fifteen52 for setting me up with the air ride. I went with airlift at all 4 corners, Airlift Autopilot v2 for management, and dual Viair 444c compressors. I still need to clean up the trunk arrangement this week, but it's all in and works awesome! Also a thanks to the members of this forum with air who I messaged with questions about your setups(.:Hinrichs:., aledelic42, and thepirate). I appreciate all your help!
It could go a LOT lower if I had smaller tires. I probably won't bother buying new tires though until I buy new wheels. For now I'm just gonna continue dailying it and enjoy it. Long term plans are a TDI swap, some body work, and a respray. I will try to get some good photos of the car this week after I wash it.![]()

I love it! good to see another bagged avant. just gotta get the front down some more. what size tires? you can lay up front with 25" tires just by chopping (a lot of) the tops of the wheel wells where the control arms hit. the ecu makes the drivers side a problem. previous cars too
is that other vehicle yours too?![]()

germansdoitbetter.comWhat was this!? A car show for ants!? Those cars need to be a least...3 times that big!

Haha, I wanted these when they were just the centers for sale. I would LOVE to have those wheels, I don't think I could convince my wife to let me buy them right now though. We have a busy expensive summer ahead of us. Both kids birthdays next month, both our birthdays in June, Vegas trip that month, anniversary in July. Haha. We didn't space things out very well.

I am gonna wash my car SOME time this week and get some photos. We just moved into our new house 2 weeks ago, so there is still a LOT of organizing and unpacking happening.
Mike actually owns two project cars...
Here's his 33' Chevy Sedan Delivery custom. This is actually for sale.
Here's an OLD picture of his 28' Chevy project. I just got a new phone and still need to upload a lot of pictures from my old phone to photobucket.
And here's one of Mike's MANY past VAG projects. Big turbo VR6 mk3.
Here's another one of my recent vehicles that was non-euro. 78' Landcruiser with a fuel injected 351.

how does that air lift setup ride? i'm planning on eventually buying that and i don't want it to be all soft and bouncy.

So far the ride is pretty awesome! It's actually got adjustable dampening front and rear. I didn't adjust mine at all and I'm happy with the ride. It's somewhere between a nice set of coils and stiff springs. Not too harsh but not too soft. Juuuuuust right. I also don't cruise around with it super slammed though cause we have some terrible roads.

I had to go buy a new desk and office chair after work so I didn't get a chance to wash my car and take any good photos. Instead you guys get more crappy iPhone pictures in my garage.

Took these on the way home today... I decided I'm gonna sell one of my bicycles so I can buy wheels sooner.

Agreed. The front definitely needs to come down a little. I don't wanna cut any holes without making some sort of patch panel covers a little higher up though. So I will have to wait a couple weeks until Mike can help me. This weekend I'm gonna try to work on better mounting for all the stuff in the trunk.

If it's something not too expensive she doesn't care, since I work and she stays home with the kids. But if it's something as expensive as wheels and tires without talking to her first..... She will beat me. Haha!
She does keep the budget and pay all the bills though. So it's usually better to run that stuff by her.

Nice! My mother in law lives on south shore just past Twanoh State Park. My old house is in East Bremerton a block over from Sylvan. So I've been around for years, usually when we are down this way it's in my wife's Jeep though. Now that we live down here I'm sure I will see you around more often.
