I recently crashed my Jetta, and unfortunately really trashed the frame support that holds the fender, pushing the door back into the rear.
I had a local body shop estimate that it would cost around $3500-$4000, which to me, sounds a bit drastic. What are your opinions on this?
I've rebuilt several MK4 Jettas and Golfs, so this is nothing new to me. I was thinking of just paying someone to fix the frame and pull it back out.
FYI - I've driven it up to about 60mph in its current form, and there was no vibration or wheel play, so I am thinking (hoping) this is mostly wheel play.
Also, does anyone have any recommendations on a body shop (frame shop) in the Indianapolis area that does decent work that can be trusted?
Frame Damage:
As you can see, the door has been pushed back into the rear door, so obviously it will need to be pulled forward:

Are there any signs of damage on the roof? Was the car totaled by insurance? Some shops won't touch cars like that due to liability issues.

for whats its worth i wouldn't bother fixing it unless it was highly modded. even at that point i would still transfer parts to another shell. mk4's are cheap now

Actually.... thats exactly what I've just started doing. I just really need to find all the front end pieces now. The donor car is uniblack like mine, but unwrecked.
Does anyone have any suggestions of any salvage yards that have Jettas that have been rear-ended. I really need to get her back on the road.
