VW MK4 Transmissions Codes - EGF vs DZC

My transmission has been going out lately so I have been looking for a new transmission but I cannot for the life of me figure out the difference between the EGFand DZC vw transmissions.

Both are an 02J and both should as far as I know bolt onto a 2000 VW GTI VR6. All the gear specs show they should be geared the same as well, so whats the difference?

Should i be concerned? Where is the code located on the 02j and will i be able to see it with it still bolted in?

The differences are usually internal, like the style of gears, big teeth, small teeth, big rivet diff, small rivet diff and so on. Like how the MK3 2.0L trans were, same ratios, but internal differences.
