We had heard that the E-Bugster concept originally shown at the North American International Auto Show this past January in Detroit had a removable hard top. In fact rumor has it that there was discussion and debate about which way to show the car at Detroit and eventually it was decided to leave the top on and show the car at a later date with the top off. Well that time has come and Volkswagen has chosen to show the roof-less version at Auto China in Beijing.

I really like the looks of this, but the engine and drive wheels are still in the wrong spot for a bug.

Car looks great, I have a 2.5 base as a company car right now and I really enjoy it. The lines on the car are gorgeous. I might have to scoop up a 2.0t convertible when it is launched.

I love the way it looks. If VW can do the "chop top" with the current Beetle, that would be awesome.

Looks great....which means in VW terminology that we'll never see a beetle like this on our shores. It will never be built and the upcoming Beetle convertible will not be this bold. It's sexy but its just a study with limited relation to anything we'll actually be able to buy. And thanks for the fish.

It would be really sweet if the Beetle convertible shared the same cropped windshield! I'd be all over it.
