    Hello folks,
I've been around these forums for quite a while, never really post up on a daily basis.
So I figured now might be a good time to get started.
I've had a few VWs in the past, and in February picked up an R from a local.

    Anyways,
Here's a thread to post up the progress of everything I'll be doing to it.

    Day I brought it home:

Started getting to work on it.
Car had some ridiculous horns, a bunch of ground wires connecting the battery to the intake manifold, throttle body etc.
(Also found out the main ground that goes from the battery to the trans/engine wasn't connected.

Got to work on getting rid of all the old car audio wiring.

This is what all we took out the first night.

Also within the first few days of getting it I dropped it off at the body shop to have the hood, front bumper, roof and side skirts repainted.

After that, went through moving from an apartment to a house.

    Did a little maintenance stuff.
Ball joints & Tie rod end links. I have control arm bushings for front and rears, but they seem fine for now.

New bushings for the VF Motor mounts

Headliner and pillars rewrapped in black suede

After getting tired of all the noise coming from the passenger rear, I discovered there was a random bolt holding everything in place. So I replaced that.

Finally getting started on the good stuff.

Well my battery decided it'd take a crap on me, so I decided it'd be a good time to start on shaving the passenger side of the engine bay.

Sure enough, the alternator was dead too, so we had to take the car back apart and have that rebuilt.

Ordered the air stuff a couple weeks ago, finally got around to getting that installed.
Thanks to Drew Dorbritz for helping me get the struts and rear setup.

And here's how it sits on huge stock tires.

I also relocated the battery to the back.

Hoping to get started on driver side of the engine bay next weekend.

Where did you buy the suede for the headliner from? All of the fabric stores I've checked only have super cheap crap, and my A and B pillar liners are starting to peel, so I need to get that rewrapped ASAP.

    Car looks awesome. Sub'd.

I had a local dude rewrap it.
I'd search online for some suede headliner material though. Needs to be super stretchy.

I ran the wires through the car like normal.
Used where the rear seatbelt buckles bolt in for a grounding point.

Nice to get past a bunch of maintenance stuff.
Going to be doing water pump and crack pipe while we've got the car apart for driver side.

The bolt is holding the sway bar end link, shock and rear spindle all together.
I could grab the shock and rattle it back and forth with the bolt hulk smashed tight.
Took me and 2 friends to get it loose.

what do u mean ran them like "normal" having ur battery in the back isnt normal and there are about 500000 ways to run them. u go underneath the car? along the drivers side interior pieces underneath, under the carpet, under the passenger side plastics?

a little more specificity would be nice sir.

Typically when someone installs an amp kit or runs a power wire through the car they go under the driver side paneling and through the grommet near the brake booster.
That's the way I did it.

Finally got around to getting the driver side of the shaved bay done.
So this is where it was before we got started.

Got to work on extending a ton of wire.

Pulling the body harness through the car was an absolute pain in the ass, but it is what it is.
    How we ran the wires.

And where it sits right now.
Need to make some adjustments to the radiator support, but I'm just glad to have the damn thing running again.
The short runner makes the car sound a lot more like a 12v VR, but it's pretty awesome. I just lost a lot of power it seems. Now comes the decision to do FI or stay with an NA setup.
Should have the car in the body shop to work on the engine bay as well as some other stuff soon.

Got some new headlights, and am really happy with how they've made the car look. They function extremely well too, threw some HIDs in there am glad to have some headlight output again.

While the car was apart, we changed out the water pump and crack pipe.
I also replaced both front seatbelt buckles, and got rid of my airbag light. :thumb up:

Big thanks to Zeb for helping me get this done.
