Some of you wanted to see some more pics of the CTS Turbo Golf R turbo kit. Here you go, she’s all buttoned up and waiting for a software revision from our friends at Eurodyne. It looks pretty stock right? Well, it’s definitely not stock…

The big turbo intake goes behind the bumper.

The standard intake for the Golf R stock turbo, as described at the top of this thread uses the factory air scoop and our air box.

Here’s a few pics of Dave’s Golf R, current mods include CTS Golf R intake kit, CTS Golf R downpipe, and ST Coilovers. Dave is a serious performance nut, prior to his Golf R he had a MK4 GLI 24V Turbo making in excess of 500HP… When Dave wants power he knows where to call! Special thanks to our friends in NY @ www.Stevebilt.com for setting Dave up with some sweet go fast goodies!

Intake works well if it's not hot out... I'll be adding a heat shield to see if hat does the trick. If not, back to stock intake

Can you explain how the stock intake would be more efficient when hot out? I had just made up my mind on ordering the CTS and you're the first to dislike...

    Thanks

Note that I only posted my real world experience after installing the intake and what would fix the issues based on what I know.

Here is something positive... when I put my stock intake back on my logs are normal. Feel free to post 'em up. Post #47 here:

You claim problems with your car and I went out of my way to assist you matt. I even go as far as explaining to you how to use vag com cuz your skill level is really low. And you send me that log I posted above and explain to you that your car is EFFed up because of what? Your tune is or was garbage. An intake can never cause a good tune to run 10/1 air fuel or pull 8 degrees across the board. Intakes suck in air they don't calibrate air fuel unless you screw up installing the maf somehow. And then you keep running your month about how bad cts's intake is when you clearly has a EFFed up tune and clearly have NO clue what your talking about. Oh and then you disrespect me and insult me on how I talk from where and how I grew up, awesome man, thanks for letting me know you treat people who try and help you. Good luck EFFing your car up pal cuz running a tune like that will destroy a motor! I'm done, got nothing more to say

Whoa easy there... I appreciate you motivating me to run logs and all but if you read carefully my verdict did NOT say the CTS Intake was the problem. I'm not running my mouth. I simply provided the facts.

Scottisha, how do you like the EVOMS intake? Unless I did something wrong on the install which I don't think is the case, the intake sounds bad. It makes a good amount of noise when driving normal and when I push it. In both cases the noise is not an aesthetically pleasing sound. I need to record the sound and post to see if it isn't normal because I've only had it on for a day and already I am unhappy with it.

I would like to hear this, I have the EVOMS also and love it. You should just hear a sucking noise, called air. Make sure the pipe is not rubbing on metal, that may be the sound.

Now that I have gone Stage 3, I'm using the Carbonio intake.
When I had the EVOMS, I had the stock exhaust, so all I heard was a moderate sucking noise and a bit of the diverter valve releasing.

Do you sell a heat shield that will work with it?

I'm confused. Was just about to order one... does it not come with a heatshield? What exactly comes in the kit for $329?

Sorry for the confusion, everything is listed on our product page:

    The Golf R intake includes:

    - 4 Ply silicon connectors
    - Stainless steel clamps
    - Air box with rubberized trim which connects to the factory scoop
    - Bracketry to prevent rattling under engine torquing

Any plans to sell an intake that sits behind the bumper for standard turbo cars?

I like your intake overall, I'm just not a fan of how it connects to the diverter valve hose. I think it would look a lot better without the extra silicone elbow...

I think we're going to keep the 'behind the bumper' intake for big turbo kits only. I would agree with you there, the alternative would be to replace the tube that connects the DV to the intake, which would be a fair bit more costly.
