Guide to fixing Recaro up/down motor?

Hi, new to this site, just purchased a Jetta Mk2 that is in upgraded daily driver form. The drivers seat up/down power adjustment is stuck. I can hear the motor trying to click over but it won't move. Can anyone point me in the right direction on how to start fixing this? Can I detach just the motor and fix or clean it, swap it with the passenger side motor that works? Do I need to take the entire seat out to do this? Thanks for any pointers. Checked the FAQ but all the links were old.
