That's pretty lame. I'd rather see Spa on the calender every year. There are PLENTY of boring tracks (with very limited history) that can alternate on and off the calendar.

Really? They couldn't alternate Valencia instead of Spa? Wow.

Valencia and Catalunya will be next to alternate. Unless Alonso starts to dominate again!

Sounds like there is a pattern here. What next?

    Current tracks to alternate:
    Spa/France
    Valencia/Catalunya
    Hockenheim/Nurburgring
    Fuji/Suzuka

    Possible???
    Austin/New Jersey/Canada
    Bahrain/Abu Dhabi
    Hungary/Turkey
    Silverstone/Doddington
Paul Ricard/Magny-Cours (Leave Spa the Phuck alone!)
    China/Korea

Instead of looking to expand the F1 calender, I think Bernie is looking to expand his pocketbook. We might very well see venues like South Africa, Buenos Aires, and Mexico City added to the F1 tour.

Spa is the best track of the year.

I wouldn't bank on that one being here much longer. Turkey is gone; Korea is next....

The main reason I think he's crazy to keep Korea is the attendence. I don't think I saw one grandstand even near full for last years race. Malaysia and China have better output and they're poor as hell. Bernie's pokcets must be seriously lined to make up for the lost attendence revenue.

That's a bittersweet case. They get rid of boring Valencia at the cost of Catalunya.

EDIT: Damn quoting system. Took me like 6 tries to get this all done.

Okay, which of those two is a "street circuit" ? That's the one I was talking about.

Bernice couldn't care less if a single person attends a GP. He gets all of his money from licensing the TV rights. That is why there are GPs in countries that couldn't care less about auto racing. Didn't he at one point, want to have a private VIP only GP at Paul Ricard or something stunningly stupid like that?

    Stan...

Yup. He doesn't get any money from tickets. That is partially why Indy no longer has a race in that the organizers couldn't make enough money from ticket sales to pay Bernie's outrageous fees. Bernie's answer is to have the local governments pickup the tab.

Ok that explains it. The more I learn about Bernie, the more I hope he goes away soon.

Valencia is the street circuit you were talking about (the European Grand Prix). Yes it's quite boring with not much passing. Catalunya, on the other hand, is the really nice track in Barcelona (the Spanish Grand Prix).

Valencia isn't really a street circuit though.

More like a permanent circuit with close walls.

Anyway, I'll take a rotated Spa rather than no Spa at all.

Spa & N'burg are the last vestiges of grand ole racing... I'd not remain a fan if those were to fall to the tyrany of Bernie Cyacksucklestone...

Valencia... weak.... Korea...needs another year at least, but the jury is out...
